ahhh the power of the moderator!!!! i only wish i'd shown up earlier... yes., blitzbabe.. darlin. for your own protection, we don't allow emails in posts. if you want to communicate with a member privately, use the PRIVATE MESSAGE [PM] tool.
ok lecture over. what's the support group like? how are you planning to make the most of this life-changing surgery? and i'm tellin ya, darlin. teens are usually sent to the TEEN FORUM for the best information for their issues, and i strongly suggest you hang out there as well as HERE. BUT, you need us. there are many many things about the surgery - like head hunger and emotional eating - that we can help you with.
so now that you're here, you're not allowed to leave.. right, pookie?
now, back to the original question. what's your support group like?
Thought I'd add my two cents in here...you should check out ObesityHelp.com and Yahoo for groups. I was checking out DS surg and there are a bunch of Yahoo Groups for that type of surg. Who knows? They might have branched off into teen DS groups.
Speaking of teen WLS, the other day I was watching the Discovery Health Channel and they had a special about a 400 lb 16 yr old boy who had the WLS. The show is called "Big John" and it was definitely quite interesting. Only thing I didn't agree with is they indicated that he had never tried to change his habits to lose weight on his own and the doctors were upset with him because he wasn't doing the things he should've (taking vitamins, eating protein).
Good luck Meghan, stick here for some good advice. Even though I am not a WLS type, I like reading things in this forum because there are some smart ladies (and guys) here.
