A lot of pain!

  • I started back on my weight loss journey a few days ago... and yesterday I exercised for 30 minutes. I felt fine the whole time and everything. I felt good this morning until I started to exercise again.

My leg joints... I think... hurt so bad after about 3 minutes that I could hardly stand up! I have never had this problem before. I quit excersing and sat down and even that hurt my joints.

Now about 20 minutes later I feel fine again. Do you guys think I should just not exersice today? Or should I try to work through the pain? Maybe modify my workout so I don't have to move my legs much? Anyone else ever have this sort of problem? I am really bummed out. I was really looking forward to exercising today.
  • I think you should not exercise today. Try again tomorrow and if it occurs again, see a doctor. You may have pulled something and a day's rest will allow it to heal up.
  • It depends on what exercise you're doing, and how often you've done it. If it's been years since you did any exercise, by no means should you be going for two days in a row! Try every other day, or even every third day. This especially applies to running, brisk walking, or anything that taxes your knees and feet. Give them time to get used to it-you didn't get out of shape over night, you're not going to do yourself any favors my trying to reverse that over night. Take care of your body and be careful with it, be nice to it. It'll get easier and less painful, but you must give your body a chance to get used to this.

Also, just to belabor the point-do not do weight training on the same body part every day. Alternate your days, say lower body monday and wednesday, and upper body tuesday and friday.
  • schmoo already said what I was going to say- alternate your days- you did your legs yesterday- do upper body today and allow your legs to rest.

i'm a huge supporter of Curves and they say that your muscles can only "sprint" for 30- 45 seconds, after that it's the law of dimishing return- you work harder but you don't get any extra out of it. That's why curves is built on 30 second intervals. And also you need to make sure of your heart rate- if it's too high than you're just burning off muscle, not fat...
    stepping off my now.
  • Hmm... I was doing aerobic type exercise. The stepping fom side to side is what is hurting me. It has been about 2 months since I last did this kind of exersice so I guess maybe I got out of shape a little more than I already was.

I am just going to skip today, maybe go for a walk this evening when it cools off outside.
  • How are you feeling now, sweetie?
