Puffed rice

  • Is puffed rice (cereal) a core food... im not talking about Rice krispies.. but the real puffed rice... there are no additives and no sugar... just rice.
Cuz today I had a bowl and put about a tbsp of SF FF syrup on top and mixed it all up and it was sooo good.. lol
  • Yes it is but I beleive only if you eat it with Milk or Yogurt.
  • How about cheerios? They're not listed in the section of cereal you can eat once per day, but they are whole wheat, right? Anyone have a complete foods book with core check marks in it?
  • I am pretty sure they aren't core, because there is added sugar... hmm check the ingredient list.
  • I double checked and Puffed Wheat or Puffed Rice are Core. Cheerio's are not core (none of them).

And "Don't forget: All cold cereals listed here are limited to one meal a day and must be eaten with fat-free milk or fat-free plain yogurt."
  • You can flavor the puffed cereals by sprinkling some SF FF pudding mix on the cereal then add milk. I like using the SF FF French Vanilla Wal-Mart brand. I hope this keeps it core.
  • Cherrios are made from oats, not wheat, and they do contain added sugar. So not CORE. Sorry.
  • "whole grain oat cereal" - now I can hear the cheerios commercial in my head.

Oh well. Still a better snack than fruit loops.
  • You're definitely right about that.... its a way better choice than some cereals out there. Im just glad i never liked the marshmallow kind!
