Has anyone experienced any changes in their hormones as a result of loosing a lot of weight?
I hope it is ok if I post this here. It's rather personal but I really would like some feedback.
About 6 or 7 months ago I began having problems with the birth control pill that I was on (I had been on it for about 5 years and had never had any problems with it). Suddenly I was having irregular bleeding and mood swings for about two weeks every month. After ruling out everything else...My doctor concluded that my hormones had changed (most likely due to loosing 90 pounds or so that point) and she switched me to a different pill I was on that pill for 4 months but I realized that my weight loss had come to a complete stand still and that I was having major problems with water retention and would gain around 6-8 pounds of water weight every month the week before my period. It was miserable. So then 2 months ago she switched me to a new pill. This one was wonderful...no more water retention problems...I started loosing again...every thing seemed wonderful...until this month. now it appears that I am having the same problems that I was having before with my original pill. ARGGGG!!! I'm so frustrated...I don't know what is going on with my body any more!!! Can anyone offer any advice? Has anyone else had any problems with their hormones changing as a result of weight loss?

I think Mel had similar problems with weight loss and I’m sure others have too because of the estrogen storage issue. Hopefully your hormones will normalize and stabilize once you’ve been maintaining your weight loss for awhile.
Losing 50 pounds really accelerated the peri- part of menopause. From what I've heard from other women, that's a blessing. How old are you?
I agree 100% with Meg and Mel !!!
lol) - Your explanations about estrogen being stored in fat cells made perfect sense!!! I feel hopeful again that my body will soon start to regulate itself properly. I'm 24 so menopause is a long way off
. I'm allergic to latex and nonoxidil 9 or whatever that stuff is called...so my options are pretty limited...I'm currently very happily married...I want to stay that way
, this is the biggest downfall of maintenance, not seeing the scale move. So now I have to focus my goals on other things, such as exercise related goals... Some weeks for me it's improving my running time, other weeks it's the speed. I also make goals in the gym by lifting heavier, trying new workout routines, etc... I'm not quite at goal yet, but I loose weight sooooooo dang slowly, at maybe 1# per month, I may as well be a maintainer... I have 10# or so to loose, but I'm in a loose size 8, so I'm happy, more or less
