Hypnosis

  • I was wondering if any of you ladies have ever tried hypnosis ? I can't seem to find anything on any of the message boards regarding hypnosis. Has anyone had success with it ? I read an article in Sundays paper and it seemed interesting. No pills, no nothing......Hmmmmm
  • We have had some threads on the subject in the past:

I think it's WAY overrated. Yup, I've done hypnosis in the past. Did okay, but I was pretty much the only person in the group who did. And the weight I lost, mostly came back anyways. Personally, I think it's better for helping to break habits like smoking.
  • Well, I was thinking about hypnosis. There is a session at a local hospital near here on Saturday, a group type thing for $59.00 and of course you can go back when ever you need to. This person is at several local area hospitals throughout the year and that is the only place they set up is a hospital. I have read pros and cons for it. My husband tried it for smoking and stress, but he couldnot be hypnotized. The guy gave him half his money back and it was expensive. I have called a couple differnt ones in the area and they are all 800.00 to 1200.00 and that is a lot for me. So now I do not know whether to try the one on Saturday or just forget it. Of course there is another in December. She has lots of folks on her website that swear they have lost weight by going to one of her sessions.
  • The place I went to - which was mostly one-on-one and small groups - the hypnotist wouldn't even take my money until she determined I COULD be hypnotized. Many people can't.
  • Whew-eee! That's a lot of money for hypnosis. I had 2 sessions for fear of flying. It DID get me to the airport with a confident feeling, and it DID give me some power phrases to meditate to, but it didn't conquer my fear. I wasn't hypnotised, though. I was the most relaxed I've ever been in my life, but his office was at an intersection and I was there for the 5 o'clock rush. I had a hard time focusing. I paid $80 for the first session, and the second session was free since I wasn't totally 'ready'.

I do believe hypnosis works, but you really have to let yourself give in to it. As for weight loss or other ongoing needs, I'm not sure. I was hypnotised for an event which I could additionally prepare for prior to flight. I can't chant before each illegal trip to the fridge.
