attempting to try WW on my own....

  • hey ladies, my sister and i just ordered one of those point/ food tracker calculator thingys...im hoping to start loosly basing my diet on the point system (from what i kno of it anyway ) heres my question, i use sugar...sometimes a lot in my coffeee mostly.... and although splenda seems o taste the least nasty...it still is, in fact, yuckkkyyy.... does anyone know of any smoothie recipes with low points that dont need extra sweetening from suar or sugar subs? Also, how effective would it be if i tried to use half the amount of sugar i normally do and i a lil splenda... is it worth the trouble? For instance, i get a med ice coffee from dunkin donuts and put a WHOPPPING 8 sugars in it.... how would i subsitute half sugar half splenda since splenda is supposed to be sweeter than sugar.... i dont even know if im making any sense now lol sorry i just got up... any info would be appreciated.... thanks a lot!!
    ahh sugar addiction....
  • For smoothies you can leave out sugar or sugar substitutes. Many times I make mine without as the fruit provides a lot of sweetness.

You can use sugar you just have to add points for it. 1 teaspoon is 0 points (15 cal) but 1 tbsp is 1 point. I don't notice a difference in sugar taste between real sugar, Splenda or Nutrasweet. Using 1/2 and 1/2 is a good way to start and then maybe cutting down more on the sugar and using more substitute.

BTW my dad always said if you needed that much in your coffee you really don't like the coffee anyway. LOL!
  • heheh your dads a smart guy, mine says the same thing lol, but thanks for the tip off on the sugar ..... im gonna attempt to make a smoothie right now ill let u know how it turns out
  • I find that sugar doesn't make that much of a difference if you are only drinking one or two cups of tea or coffee per day.

I take two tsps in my coffee but I only have one in the morning when I get up and make that my daily treat. The rest of the day I drink herbal tea without sugar.
