advice for my sister please....

  • my sis is a full time teacher with a little 3 year old. She admits she can't really cook and doesn't like to spend much time in the kitchen. But she wants to try doing Core at home. I am helping her a bit, but I wonder if you would be so kind as to pass on your best advice about starting and doing Core; given her restrictions.

Many of you probably struggled in a similar manner and if you have a pearl or two of wisdom for the newcomer i would appreciate it. Sometimes others put in so much better than I can.

    Thanks so much.

  • Has she seen the plan yet. I think she can look at the plan and decide if it fits into her way of eating. I do more planning on CORE than before- I eat out less. But I also travel full time for business. I bring quick cooking oatmeal and bananas for breakfast. I eat a salad with sliced turkey for lunch with fat free cheese chunks. I eat dinner out, but carefully pick from the menu.
  • thanks. She is getting an idea of the plan, but she wants the simple verion of cooking I think. Any ideas would be helpful.
  • Bascially the same thing I do with Flex:

    1) get a good skillet (for stirfrying, sauteeing, etc)
    2) get a george foreman (of if you are lucky and live in a non-snow area a nice little grill)

Cook lean meats (chicken breast, skinless thighs, steaks, lean pork chops)

    Fresh, canned, frozen veggies

fresh, canned, frozen (without sugar) fruits

    Complex carbs (grains, potatoes, etc)

    dairy.
