Thin4Life week of April 30

  • Good morning Lifers, Soon-to-be Lifers, Lurkers, and everyone else!

Last week was a definite challenge for me and the weekend started off okay but the evenings were tough as far as snacking. I'm struggling something fierce and I'm getting pretty frustrated. I have been walking and making sure I'm journaling, drinking my water, and watching my portion sizes. This week is PMS week for me and it seemed as if it wasn't nailed down over the weekend it was fair game. Yikes!

Anyway, today is a new day and I'm going to begin fresh with a new page in my journal. My goal for today is to not get frustrated and keep a positive attitude

    Have a great Monday everyone!
  • Good morning, Melissa - my, you are up and about very early today! It is 7:44 am here in Austin.
Hellooooo!!! to everybody else (lifers, lurkers, etc.)

Eating and exercise have been so haphazard lately that I haven't even been tracking - but I have been watching the number on the scale creep upwards by a few lbs!!

So, Melissa dear, you are definitely not alone! Today's goal: write down everything I eat, whether I stay OP or not. And, drink all my water. Goal for the week: work out at least 3 times. If I could do those three things, I know I will feel much more in control and "back on track".

Work is still crazy (last day of the month and all) so I'll have to run for now, and probably won't check back in. First, tho, I'm gonna go get started with that online journal thing!

    Tootle -loo and Happy Week!!
  • Good morning to you Melissa. I started the thread a few moments ago and then lost it. Glad to see you're on the ball!

I am definitely in need of an attitude change. The scales read close to 150 this morning - a weight I have not seen in over a year My eating has been out of control, although the exercise habit is coming back so maybe that's something to build on. I don't know when I started making all the wrong choices (high-fat snacks, alcohol, etc.) but this definitely has to change.

So, the June challenge that we spoke of last week has become even more important.

Goals for the week: water, journal, exercise 4 times minimum
mid-May goal: lose 4 pounds (hoping some of the weight is water and it will come off quickly)
    mid-June goal: 141

I know that nine pounds in six weeks is ambitious, but I find I do better with a real challenge. Oh yeah, I've decided to add my weight to my signature too so that it's right there in front of me (and you). Might keep my honest.
  • Hi all- Its a typical Seattle day here. Its quite rainy and all the peach and cherry
blossoms are falling off . It looks a bit like snow, unfortunately our roof job was supposed to start today. Bummer.

Spent the weekend with a cold, sort of put a damper on the whole weekend, especially flying to see my parents in California. Oh well, I think I'll be going home early today.

I'm still in for the June Challenge. I would love to be down a couple of pounds before shorts and t-shirt season starts and it is wedding season too. Yikes. The dress I'm wearing to two weddings is sleeveless, though it has a little silk cover up. Its time to do some tricep and bicep curls.

So, ladies, let the games begin!!!!!!!

Have a great week, journal, journal, journal, drink, drink, drink and walk, run and lift!

    snuffling and woozily,
    lala
  • Sorry to hear you are sick lalala. Hope it clears up soon.

Out for a run this morning before work - third day in a row! Good OP day yesterday, resolve is strong. I was hungry last nite about 9 p.m. and had a pear; it actually satisfied me. Could things be looking up?

DH and I are going away for the weekend with another couple to an inn in New Brunswick - about a four-hour drive from here. This is actually a Valentine's Day gift that we gave to the guys in February; I sure hope we get a nice weekend weather-wise so that we can do some hiking. My brother also lives in the area and I might get to see his brand new shiny baby boy - who I hear looks just like him.

I'm off on another business jaunt tomorrow and am taking a vacation day on Friday, so won't be back in to visit here until next week. Have a great week everyone, and remember the June challenge.
  • Hi everyone!

I'm happy to report that so far I've been doing pretty well with pretty much staying within my points. The past 2 days have been a little stressful and I've been over just a little but not a whole lot. I've also managed to get out and get some nice walks in over my lunch hour.

The weather here appears to have skipped Spring and moved on to Summer--it's a balmy 87 degrees here (according to our time & temp service). I'm sure this weather will be short-lived and that next week we'll be in a more normal range (60-70's). Anyway, I'm enjoying the nice weather

lala Hope you're feeling better! I hate it when I feel out of sorts.

My goals for this past week have been met so far...I've been keeping within my points, drinking my water and watching my portions. Tomorrow is my meeting and I'm anxious to see where I'm at. I've weighed myself at home and I'm down according to my scale.

    Happy May Day everyone!
  • Well, ladies, your June challenge resolve must be rubbing off on me.

I exercised last night (tho my eating for the day was definitely OP, as in "over points!") and I worked out at the gym this morning. One of my goals for the week was to exercise 3 times, and it looks like I just might make it! Eating is on track today, so I'm hoping to continue with an OP day and actuall write down everything I eat.

We are having weather pretty much like Melissa down here in Texas - low to mid 80's. Unfortunately, tho, we don't have much hope of returning to any spring-like weather. The kids have started swimming every day at their after-school day camp, and I am afraid the temps are just going to go upwards from here. I hope we don't have another sweltering summer with temps over 100 degrees for weeks on end.

    Have a great day, all!
  • Hi All-

Goodness, it sounds like Melissa and Austingal are in the throes of
a weather event. Yikes. Those are high temps for July here!

I like the OP (overpoints) idea. good for all of you who exercised. I'm still not feeling up to anything more energetic than a good dog putter. Today, I"ll try for 25 min on the treadmill.

Cloudy and sprinkling here, but its supposed to hit 60 today and 65 Thursday and Friday. I'm so excited. Maybe by my departure next week, our roof will be complete.

I'm thinking of going to a meeting tonight, but not weigh-in until Saturday am.

Gotta split. Have a great day!

    lala
  • Hi everyone

The weather here is quite summer-like but I'm sure next week we'll be back to our normal temps of being in the 60's. I'm enjoying the nice weather though. I've been doing pretty well as far as drinking my water, getting my walks in and staying pretty well within my points. It's not helping that this week is just before TOM and I'm struggling with that.

I went to my meeting today at noon and am happy to report I'm down 3.2#...woohoo. I knew some of the gain that I had last week was due to water retention from the heat, I know that wasn't all of it. I feel good and I'm working toward my goal of getting my weight down to 137-138. I can do it and I'm on my way. I'm still in what I call the "danger zone" being almost 2# over my goal so I know I need to refocus and continue to move forward with my plan/goals.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

lala: Generally the weather we have here is a lot like what you've been having...I think that's why we're all so happy around here lately...we're actually getting to see the sun again!
  • Good morning to all on PDT and happy lunch to those in CDT and EDT...

Sunny and nice here today. You can almost hear things pop and grow. I'm ready to start the vegetable garden this weekend, 800 sq ft of fava beans and squash (just kidding). Our roof is coming on nicely and the dumpster is a good thing. I'm getting rid of all the pots I have meant to recycle, but haven't gotten around too.

I had a good day yesterday. I didn't make it to the gym, but today I shall. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon and then I may just leave early to hit the gym before it gets too crowded.

Melissa, do you attend meetings weekly? or do you weigh in once a month? I am impressed that you can stay within the 2 lb range. Do you ever judge your
weight based on your clothing? I avoid the scale except at meetings, so I can base how I'm doing on the fit of my clothing. Just wondering.

Well off to my meeting. Hope everyone is having a productive dayo.

    lala
  • lala: I attend weekly meetings and weigh in weekly. THis helps to keep me on track and motivated. I can generally tell by the fit of my clothes if I'm up or not. It's way too easy for me to slack a little with watching my portions, etc. so I attend weekly meetings and journal. I'm working at getting my weight back down to the 138 area which gives me a little more breathing room. I feel so much better when I'm below the 140's.

Hope everyone had a great weekend

    Melissa
