I joined WW a couple weeks ago and I'm doing well so far and looking forward to continuing the program. I'm worried though that the cost of the program, coupled with the horrible traffic and time it takes me to get to a weekly meeting, may cause me to slip, if I'm not careful.
I'm thinking that between the membership/getting started materials and the other info I have so far - I can do this from home with the online support of the board. I do have a question though - can anyone tell me if any of the coming weeks contain vital material that I would not want to miss? One woman mentioned that there is important info on carbs vs. proteins vs. fat (?) - and how to divide your points among them ?
I cannot order the At Home materials for my location. Thanks - I would appreciate any advice I could get at this point. Good Luck to you all.

Vegasbride, congratulations on your new start. That said, the question of whether you continue with meetings or not is up to you. You have to think about why you go to the meeting and what you get out of it, and each individual topic. If part of the meeting is the topic, that is also available over on Dottisweightlosszone.com under her chat pages, someone always posts the topic. If it is the actual weight in and review of the week and the progress made to date, that definately has to be done in person.
For me, I am not willing to give up another night away from my family, so I am doing it on my own and I do have to say, that I think that it is going more slowly because I do not have the level of drive from attending the meetings. The cost factor is one of those things, I spend money on all kinds of things and I decide how necessary they are differently week to week. Right now, the meeting fee for me is $12. I spend that on junk, which honestly I do not have to but choose to.
Maybe you could give it a while longer or until you get to a particular goal.
Welcome,
Liza
Vegasbride!
Congrats on joining! I started in late OCT. of last year doing it on my own. I only joined the beginning of 2001 to get all the new material.
The material they are handing out has a lot of good info, so I will stay until I have every week, but then I am doing it on my own again!
Between this site and Dotti's I get all the support I need and have been very successful on my own!
Good luck in whatever decision you make!

Vegasbride, If you can get ahold of the Jan/Feb issue of WW, there is an article on the protein/fat/carb topic.
Vegasbride. I am going to do WW on my own at home. I attended the meetings in the past and the weigh in kept me very motivated. I rejoined like you have Tracylynn75 to get the new info. I am not able to attend meetings so I am going to continue with the program on my own. So far, so good. I do get the Weight Watchers magazine which I think is very helpful.
