I have just started the Core program. I think that I am really going to like this, but I think that I am doing somethig wrong. I have been doing this since Sunday, and have been able to stick with it, so far. My problem is that I am not getting enough calories. I have been putting my food into Fitday, just to see what the calories were. Looks like for the past 3 days I have not even been getting 1000 calories. What are some things that the rest of ya'll have done or what do you eat to make sure that you are getting enough calories to fuel the body? Or am I maybe doing something wrong??
Thanks for the help
Hi, are you eating 5 servings of fruit and/or veggies? How about a couple of dairy servings (ff/plain yogurt or ff milk)? My typical day is usually something like this:
B - Oatmeal with splenda and vanilla extract. Sometimes I'll throw in some walnuts if I have extra points.
S - Fruit or Yogurt
L - Homemade soup or Salad with some type of meat.
S - Fruit or Yogurt - 94% fat free popcorn
D - Couscous/meat/veggies.
I haven't been tracking the calories but have been feeling really full and satisfied.
Kathy
Well 2 tsp of healthy oils, a minimum of 5 servings of fruits and veggies (usually 8-10 is what I get), lean meats, complex carbs and dairy.
80 cal in the oils
180-360 cal in the dairy (2-4 8-ounce cups)
lean meats range from 130-200 calories per 3 ounces
Right there is 390 - 640 calories wtih only 1 serving of lean meats 520 - 1360 with 2 servings of lean meats...add some complex carbs and your fruits and veggies
OK, are we supposed to be measuring those lean meats, pasta, etc?? I have all the info on the new program, but find it confusing in some ways!
SaskieMom, no you don't have to weigh or measure the CoreFoods. But you can usually get a good idea of how much you are eating by using the basic guides for portion control.
Tara, I wouldn't worry about not eating enough. I think when most of us started core we would check pts like on flex and many of us found we were eating less than what are targets pts would be on flex, but after several days it started balancing out, we'd have high days and low days and that works just fine. So I would just recommend not worrying about checking it on fitday and just eat when you are hungry, eat until satisfied, if you get hungry and hour later have a snack or something and just let your body signals guide you ok? Your body really does know best if we listen, lol. Good luck!
