This is my first week on Core and I am liking it but I have one problem with the whole system. The best part about the points system was that you could take any food at all and use the slider to determine how many points it is.
I wish WW would give a criteria or ingredients that would make something be Core or not be Core. The books has a lot of listings but obviously can't list everything.
I realize that sugar and flour are things that make things not Core but then how is ketchup core when it has sugar.
I would just like to be able to look at nutritional information or ingredients lists and be able to determine if the item is CORE or not.

I would assume that ketchup is probably core because really, who eats more than a tablespoon or two at a sitting . . . on a burger or something? I don't know anyone that can "abuse" ketchup. Except, of course, my daughter, who loves ketchup sandwiches!!
yes, that is why ketchup is considered to be core and where barbeque sauce is not core because you may use it for barbequed beef or pork. but i love ketchup way more than barbeque.

Basically the core system is devised on eating healthy whole foods until you are satisfied...but avoiding foods that "trigger" people to overeat-flour, breads, sugar, etc.
People who used Flex and tended to use their points more on low point treat foods rather than fruits and veggies will find that they are losing quicker on Core-because the treat type foods like sugary things and breads are limited to the 35 points per week-rather than being able to eat them all day long as long as you are within your daily points on Flex.
The other posters are correct-you can have sugar on Core in the small amounts that are in some of the allowed condiments, and in your weekly 35 points-but it is limited-so you have to eat more lean protein, fruit, and vegetables as the bulk of your diet instead.
