  • Good Morning All!

Wow, my little man has been at my mom's since Friday night and aside from a short spurt at 12:30 last night, I don't think he misses us! He's been eating her out of house and home she said and having a grand old time! I'm glad he's doing soo well, since we have to leave him next month for 3 nights to go to the wedding in San Francisco.

We didn't get the carpets done yesterday, DH ended up not getting home til after 10 last night. So we're gonna do them today, then go over to mom's for dinner and bring Peter home.

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!
  • hello everyone

Lauren - I'm so sorry about your cat. Sounds like you did the only thing you could.

I'm so excited that it's September - I love the fall!

  • Hi all......

Lauren: Sorry you had to do what you did, but I'm sure it's for the best.

Well guys it looks like Ivan is going to touch down in Pensacola at this moment, and twe are close to Pensacola. I hope it is not a category 5 when it makes landfall. They are saying if it is we will be without power for at least 3 weeks! It's looking like we will never be able to get moved in our new house. I know we have been lucky, but I don't want this storm!!!!!!!!!!

RR: I will keep my fingers crossed for you as well in case the storm moves more your way. Although I don't wish that for anyone. Not sure yet if we are going to leave or not, because of the type of job DH & I, we have to almost be here immediately following so it makes it hard to evacuate, unless however, it is life threatning. (DH works for the city and I work in insurance)

Sorry can't write more as I am really bummed about the thought of this!
  • Jackie & RR, you guys stay safe!! This AM I heard Ivan may hit the panhandle Thursday. Are you getting some of it already??

Rabbit, I love the fall also! As much as I love warm weather, there's nothing like a nice walk in the park on a fall day, or a drive in the country to see the changing leaves! I want to take Peter on a hayride this year.
  • Hey guys! Greetings to all!! Stay dry, those of you in Florida...
I love the fall, too, and Halloween, and out here we have the balloon fiesta in October. All of those things mean fall to me. And back to school. I love the smell of school supplies (no, I don't sniff the glue!), and the possibilities that a new school year brings. Even those of us who aren't actually in school can feel the energy buzzing of the unknown and the "sky's the limit" mentality! And of course, breaking out the fall clothes! Of course, it is still in the 80's here, though DH is talking about closing the pool next week. He wants to close it before the leaves start to fall....something about not wanting to clean a million leaves out of the pool! I am looking forward to buttoning my jeans with ease, and maybe, just maybe being in a smaller size before Christmas!! I'm finding the Halloween challenge to be very helpful in motivating my food choices and portion sizes and exercise.

    TTFN! Jen
  • Hello all! Sorry it's been so long since I wrote. I did journal a couple of times but my computer kept crashing so I don't think they went through. Rats. For all of those who are dealing with hurricanes/tropical storms-stay safe! We're still dealing with 105 degree weather. I can't wait for the winter!
  • hello.

Jack & RR - stay safe! I haven't seen the latest reports so am unsure of where it is headed.

Lauren - oh, a hayride would be so fun!

Jen - hooray for the motivation you are feeling! I agree about the 'new school year' - I am in that mentality and always see it as the beginning of a new year.

  • Hi guys,

RR and Jack: I hope you guys are not in the path of the storm. I haven't heard an update on the storm today. Please evacuate if it's safer!! I don't want to see you on the news in a motorboat being rescued!! Don't make me worry about you!!

Lauren: I took Alex on a hayride last year. We are going again this year. I can't wait. It was a blast last year. I like to go up to Stokes State Park in the fall and check out the leaves. They have a couple short hikes that are nice.

Midwife: My pool (all 3ft/20ft of it!!) has been closed for a month or so. The water doesn't get very warm here and the baby would shiver if the wind blew even if the air temp was 90!

Drummer: Glad your 'puter is up and running again.

We went to the Philly Zoo today. It was nice...not crowded and not terribly hot. I went with one of my MOM'S friends and the babies only tolerated about 3 1/2 hrs. It was sad tho, the tigers and lions have been sent to other zoos so they can redo the enclosures. We were both looking forward to seeing them.
  • Jen, I totally know what you mean about the fall and turning over a new leaf, a second chance, etc. Our little pool (same as Karen's, but 12' diameter) is still open, but we haven't been in it in weeks. It just hasn't been warm enough after work or on the weekends. DH was gonna close it next weekend, but he's gotta work all day now, so I don't know if it'll get done.

DG, sorry you're having 'puter problems.

Karen, I want to take Peter to Van Saun Park in Paramus, it's a free county park with a petting zoo and a little train ride. I haven't been there since I took my niece about 8 years ago!

Have a great evening all. I was gonna go to the gym after work, but Peter's been pretty whiney, think he just needs us both home tonight, after being at my mom's all weekend.
  • Hello all...
Well, DH has been out of town for over a week..I have one sick with ear infections #2 and Kaylee with upper resp infection...We are preparing for the storm because I dont know what I will do with kids and working..We are required to come in, daycare and schools will cancel... Dh is calling...so far, it looks like Florida(Jackie--sending prayers) and New Orleans area so we both are in for it....Not getting much sleep...up at night with breathing treatments and such..my parents are helping but it isnt the same with 1 parent...someone even commented today I was losing weight??who has time to eat!!
Send prayers for everyone in the path of this crazy storm..The last one, Andrew that hit 10 or so years ago left us with no electricity for 7 days...it would be much differnt now with the kids....DH will be home on the 19th!!
    RR
  • Hi all.......still not sure exactly where the storm will hit, some show it will hit right in the middle of us, and others forecast it to go towards AL or MS, we'll just have to wait it out.

RR: You poor thing, you sure don't need a storm with all you have going on. I will keep my fingers crossed that it does not come your way. They are telling us in our area if we get hit, plan on no power for a min of 3 weeks to as long as 2 months. Stay safe!!!!!!

Talk to you all later. I plan on shutting my computer down sometime Wed here at home, but will try and check in from work on Friday or so
  • RR & Jackie! Please do everything you can to stay safe!! If either of you end up off line for more than a few days w/no electric, would you please call me and let me know you're alright? I will PM both of you my work #, it's toll free.
  • Thanks Lauren! I printed your #'s and have them in my purse. I will keep you posted! They are saying the eye will hit land somewhere between MISS & AL, however us folks in Florida are on the bad side of the storm. They are saying about 12PM tomorrow night. I hate it when storms hit during the night because it's more scarier. I will keep you all posted! More than likely we will lose power but I plan on heading to work Friday morning and we have a generator at work to run the computers so we can process insurance claims. I promise I will drop in 1st thing if I am able and let you all know we are okay. I just hope and pray our houses are not damaged to much especially our new one.

RR: Please be safe and post when you can and let us know you are okay too.......

Hello to the rest of ya!
  • Jackie--sending prayers your way!! We are ok at this point with the "good" side of the hurricane comming..They have evacuated New Orleans and the schools have closed tomorrow and Thursday..It just puts me in a bind and scares the pejeebies out of me to hit at night when I am by myself with the kids..they are predicting heavy rains and winds of about 50mph here..Stay safe Jackie--since U R on the opposite side of this crazy thing and then there is Jeane comming up now...Thanks Lauren!!
    I will keep U posted!!
    RR
  • RR and Jackie,
I am sending positive thoughts and prayers your way! I hope that you all and everyone else will see the other side of this unscathed...
    Jen
