New TOPS member

  • Hello everyone. I joined TOPS last week at the encouragement of my mother-in-law. I looked forward to our meeting all week and last night was great!! I was nervous about having to weigh in b/c even though I felt like I had lost I wasn't sure when I stepped on the scales. I had lost 3.5 pounds! I was so happy! I know that's a big loss for one week but I made some pretty significant changes this week that I felt I would be able to stick with. One was making sure to get in atleast 20 minutes of exercise daily. Another was cutting out Mountain Dews... that was a little hard. I am trying to drink water and if I have soda I have caffeine free diet Coke. I had to battle some pretty severe headaches for a few days while my body was getting use to the idea that it wasn't getting any caffeine LOL. Now I'm fine and am still very motivated to continue my weight loss. I'm realistic in knowing that not every week will be such a significant loss. I may backslide a couple times and actually gain, but I'm going to stick with it. My mother-in-law lost 1.5 pounds and as a total loss for the entire group we lost well over 25 pounds! That's a huge difference from last week where 14 pounds were gained with only a 2 pound loss! We got it in gear this week~! I'm so glad I found this thread!

  • Hi Alora: I'm glad you found this thread also! You had a wonderful loss at the meeting, and you sound very excited about being involved with your local chapter.

We are glad to have you here and hope to see more posts from you.

  • Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I am very excited about our local chapter. It's a small group but that's okay I like it. I use to be a member of WW and there were so many people there that I never really felt like I was a part of that group. I know WW has been a success for many people, but I like the idea of not having to calculate points and it can get expensive. Eleven bucks a week isn't exactly cheap when your on a tight budget and TOPS seems to focus more on the person and not the goal.. even though the goal is very important. It just seems to be more personal. Maybe that's just my opinion.
