Steak Salad

  • Since it's been so hot here in California, I made this salad a few nights ago.

    Steak Salad
    Makes 4 servings

1 3/4 lbs. beef sirloin steak
    1/3 C. olive oil
    3 T. red wine vinegar
    2 T. lemon juice
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1/2 t. salt
    1/8 t. ground black pepper
    1 t. Worcestershire sauce
    3/4 C. crumbled blue cheese
8 C. romaine lettuce - rinsed, dried and torn into bite size pieces
    1 small green pepper, sliced
    1/2 C. sliced red onion

    1. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, vinegar, lemon juice, garlic, salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce. Mix in the cheese. Cover and place dressing in the refrigerator.
    2. Preheat grill for high heat.
    3. Lightly oil grate. Place steak on grill and cook for 3 to 5 minutes per side or until desired doneness is reached. Remove from heat and let sit until cool enough to handle. Slice steak into bite size pieces.
    4. Arrange the lettuce, pepper and onion on salad plates/bowls. Top with steak and drizzle with dressing.
