New!! What is this buddy business about?

  • Hello everyone! I am 29 years old and recently divorced. I do have a new live in boyfriend who is completely awesome. We are both looking to lose weight and tone up. However since he is a man it seems to be easier for him to drop pounds.
I think I need some other motivation and encouragement - a female perspective. However I don't know how this buddy system works. Do people email each other everyday as a point of reference for how their day went?
    I could really use that.
I have about 42 pounds to lose. I am 5'1" and I just weighed myself this morning at 167. My goal is to get down to 125.
I have cut my calories down to 1300 - 1400 a day and have been jogging a mile each morning for the last 2 weeks with the exception of Sunday's.

I also try to make it to the gym at least 2 - 3 times a week.

If someone is interested in being my buddy or if someone would just like to offer some MUCH NEEDED encouragement please respond to this thread.

    Thanks...
  • Hey
Hey, I am new here too and not too sure about this buddie stuff either, but I would like to have someone to e-mail everyday to see how their day went and to have some one to tell about my day. My boyfriend is very supportive too and is also losing wieght but as you said it is so easy for guys!! If your interested in being my e-mail buddy let me know!

  • Hi ladies and welcome to the both of you!

The way that this Site works is...you browse around and see what forums interest you. You are not limited to only a few forums....you can post where ever you feel like it.

The Buddy Up forum is (at least how I look at it) for new people who are in search for others to correspond, get advice, give support....what ever it may be. Many people have started in the Buddy Up forum, and then found a place they like to post.

Feel free to browse around everywhere....you'll find all kinds of different diet programs, questions you may have wanted to ask already answered and many Wonderful people.

As for e-mailing back and forth.....thats up to you and who ever you may meet up with. Many people find it easier to post in an area that they have interest in.....like for me....I found a wonderful group of women in the Jaded Ladies forum.

Shelle--Our stats are very similar....I'm older than you at 33, but I'm barely 5'1" and am also trying to get down to 125lbs. I'm currently at 145.....but at the moment....I feel MUCH heavier!

I think it's great that the both of you have BF's who are supportive, that truly helps! My DH is very supportive and we both enjoy working out together when we get the chance.

I hope the two of you find this site to be of great help to you and that you find many friends here along the way!

    Take Care
  • Thanks MNJ... It seems like a great forum!! I have read some very encouraging stories.
I couldn't believe the scale yesterday when I stepped on. I don't have a scale at home (really good because I am a weigh-a-holic!!) so I use the one at the local grocery store. I figure I will try to only use it once a week. I'm thinking every Tuesday morning.

Anyway thanks again and I look forward to seeing you around!!
