  • Some brilliant member posted a question asking what everyone's top five foods were. I can't find the original post so I'm starting the thread again because I learned a lot from it. Mind you, these are OP foods, because my ultimate top five would be drastically different. I'll start it off:

    In no particular order:

    1. Vegetable broth
I cook just about everything with broth. It doesn't evaporate as quickly as oil sprays and is totally fat free.
    2. Tofu
I'm a vegetarian so I eat a lot of this stuff. Baked, sauteed, stir-fried, at least once a day.
    3. Frozen vegetables
I couldn't pick a particular vegetable. I boil up some veggie broth, throw in some potatoes, zucchini, broccoli, tofu and let it simmer for a bit, then reduce the heat and add frozen spinach, frozen pepper strips, frozen peas. I add a little couscous at the end and some tomato paste. It's my nightly ritual, a super healthy 'hash'. It actually sounds kind of gross in print but with garlic and lemon and a little salt, it's delish.
    4. Fruit popsicles
Love these. I get them at Trader Joe's in strawberry and lemon. Sweet, cold with big chunks of fruit, they make an excellent dessert.
    5. Skinny Cow cheddar cheese
I am so devoted to cheese. This is the best lo-fat cheese I've ever had.

I also eat a lot of Boca Burgers but alas! Only room for five.

Tell me your top five foods so I can bust out of my utterly predicatable grocery store routine!
    Thanks so much!
  • I voted Pizza

I have found 2 point chocolate bars (sweep escape YUM) and 2 point icecream.

I would rather pizza over fries....so there ya have it.
  • yeah, yeah, we know that ALL foods are OP
These have all helped me tremendously on the journey. And pre-WW I would NEVER have used any "light" products

    1. butter/oil spray
    2. light mayo
    3. light bread
    4. vegetables
    5. Kedem biscuits

Now that I've read the post on the new nutritional labeling for Kedems (2 biscuits = 1 point; we used to think 6 biscuits = 1 point), i have to change my list. Can't depend on the good old Kedems anymore...

okay, i'm switching Number 5 to Brown & Brummel margarine (1 Tablespoon = 1 point). Now, you B&B guys, don't go changing the nutrition labeling on me.
  • Hmmm...
    • Loose tea - preferably oolong. Tea really helps with my cravings in the afternoon.
    • Valrhona chocolate. 1 ounce calms any sweet/fat cravings I may have throughout the day.
    • Brown rice. I can mix almost anything with it and have a great meal.
    • Tofu. Believe it or not I really have developed a craving for the stuff, and it's so versatile.
    • Hot sesame oil. It can "spice up" almost anything.

And I've got all that stuff in my cupboard!!
  • Kedem lovers be aware!
Pulling up this post with my edited version of my 5 most helpful WW foods, because I just read that posting about Kedem biscuits.
