  • Hi Female Panda

I have tried various diets over the last few years (including Atkins). The best one that I have found is Slimming World. I eat so much food and still lose weight. I did lose a lot of weight on Weight Watchers but often felt hungry.

The great thing about Slimming World is that you can choose each day what kind of diet you are going to follow that day, low carb (Red or Original as it is officially called) or low protein (green day). I like the Green day best as it means that I can eat as much pasta, potatoes and rice as I like.

I have had a green day today and have eaten the following:

    Breakfast
Two eggs fried in spray oil (free)
Two slices of wholemeal bread (healthy extra B)

    Lunch
Jacket Potato with loads of beans and a sprinkle of cheese (Healthy Extra A)
    Fruit

    Dinner
Batchelors Mild Cheese and Broccoli Pasta and Sauce (free)
    Fruit

    Snacks
Small pot of low fat fromage frais with Mango and pineapple (free)
Large bag of fresh peas - my fave (free)

    Cinema Later Tonight
Latte (healthy extra a for milk)
    Bag of Revels (8.5 syns)
  • Hi Female Panda

All Diets work its just sticking with them thats the hard part Must admit Super's grub does'nt sound half bad especially the bag of Revels
  • Cat is right - all diets work - it's just sticking to them that's hard - but Slimming World is the easiest to stick to that's for sure!
Have a look at the Slimming World website www.slimming-world.co.uk - honestly it's amazing as there's so much free food!

And don't worry - no one will make you eat fresh peas!

"Large Bag of Fresh Peas?" you are funny SuperWitch! Can't think of anything nicer!
  • Hey female panda everyone has said it all really, sticking to it is the hardest part and staying motivated, and a wide choice in food always helps same old same old gets real dull real quick. and make sure you get moving. oh yeah i can help anyone lose weight except myself

I'm pretty good at that too! Good at advice giving but don't seem to be able to do it myself!

Edited as I've lost my manners ~ "Welcome Female Panda!"

I'm doing the Slimming World diet and so far I don't feel like I'm dieting!
  • It's true, all diets work if you stick to them, you just need to find what suits you best.
Personally, I'm low carb, it helps me no end with sugar cravings which are my downfall, plus I exercise lots and I feel like I need the protein. I still eat lots of salad though (for my 5 fruit & veg) but I try hard never to eat anything sweet, even fruit. I never thought I'd be able to manage it, but this method stops me eating as much between meals and just seems to help keep my mind off food.
I did try slimming world and the food was great, especially the green days, but no matter how hard I tried I could only lose ounces a week and got very downhearted. They were nice people though and very supportive.
The other thing I wanted to say is,I have lost 3 stone and a bit, but it has been a sorry tale of getting knocked down & getting up again and has taken longer then I thought (almost a year now). I put mine on over 7 years and I just keep on telling myself it shouldn't take quite that long to get it all off again! Try to stay focused on the long term goal, appreciate every bit of progress you make. It feels to me like I fail more than I succeed, but taking it all into account that's about a pound a week, which is supposed to be the right amount isn't it?
And exercise, which I used to loathe and now I LOVE! I think it's a great way to appreciate your body and learn to respect it. Can't wait to see the fab body that must now be lurking under this fat!
  • Bit off topic but what is the new flavour of revels they keep advertising - i'm intrigued but determined not to fall for the marketing ploy?
