Hi all,
I am interested in seeing a nutritionist for help with my diet plan. Unfortunately, my insurance will not cover it.
Has anyone been to a nutritionist? Would it be worth me paying out of pocket to see one?
chris: this is just my personal experience... for what it's worth. i think generally that nutritionists are better qualified than dieticians, so check out the credentials first. many dieticians consider themselves to be nutritionists, and they're not.
and obviously some are MUCH better than others, so find out everything you can. ask for references.
now, having said that. i've been working with a dietician for a couple of months, and it's been worthwhile. my earlier experience with dieticians has been just plain awful and harmful, but this one thinks differently than most of the others.
and yes, she's well worth my paying out of pocket [don't forget that it's a tax deduction subject to the 7.5% of your gross income].
hmmmm. i guess i haven't been much help here, except to suggest that you look around very carefully..
I am fortunate enough to have my insurance pay most of the cost, but I would pay it all. My nutritionist has been so helpful and really put me on the right track to health.
