Peggy that punch recipe is nice and it looks so pretty with the fruit on it. It would be appropriate for any gathering.
Maria boy those chocolates will get you every time. Costco (around Christmas time) hands them out. I can NEVER say no and chocolate is not even one of my downfalls. The gal with the tray of chocolates says, "ma'm, would you like one".? Oh ok!
Ann the menu for the party sounds just great. Wish I were going. I have a really simple (but very good and tasty) recipe for a cake that you start off by using a white cake mix, and mixing crushed pineapple into it and mashed bananas. After it is baked you make a topping of shredded coconut, brown sugar and butter and put it under the broiler for a few minutes until golden brown.
If you need another cake recipe let me know and I will post it for you.
Trudy I hope you had a nice time tonight at the "Body Shop" party. I don't know gals, what do you all think? Do you really think it was bath products and lotions.....LOL

Trudy congratulations on getting to goal. apologies that it is somewhat belated. everytime I post there is always something that I have forgotten I should have posted Your Body shop party sounded like fun, I am a sucker for all the potions and creams etc.

Lily I had a great time at my photoshop class, it was the last one. It is all so simple if someone tells you!!!! I am going to play around and practice this afternoon. I am going to investigate the possibility of doing another course similar. As my teacher said, you will never know everything in a lifetime what you can do in Photoshop!!!
Did a lot of grocery shopping this morning and struggled on the train with it, everything is now put away and the cupboard is fully stocked for son and partner's arrival tomorrow Of course the sales are still on and I bought a couple of pairs of slacks and a pair of shoes as well. Very productive morning.
DH wants to go to the fishmarkets after work, prawns (or shrimps as you may call them) are very cheap in Sydney, I don't care for them that much but dh just loves them.

I don't think that you are telling all. Lily glad you are checking in. Hope that things get a little less hectic for you. Well I heard this morning that our riots are spreading to the suburbs. They are thinking of calling in the Nat'l Guard. I am so glad that my DH is a retired fireman now and doesn't have to respond to any of it. The fire trucks are getting police escorts. It is time for cool heads to prevail. Oh well, enough of that. Tomorrow I have to babysit so I am going to the Donnas Day site. She has a recipe to make a bouncing ball. I think we will try it. Hi gals
Instead of buying chocolate for ourselves this Easter (that is what we usually do ) we bought 2 lovely bunches of Tulips. I feel so proud.
Every supermarket we went to today (and trust me - we were in quite a few), we saw Slavika.
The BODY SHOP party was fun. I spent around $66.00 on myself and also got something for "you know who" ...they have lotions, gels, scrubs, perfume, cosmetics, soaks, bath fizzes & bubbles & salts, you name it. AND NOTHING KINKY Tell you what, I will host a party and all of you are invited. I think we would have a lot of fun.
Slavika - stop complaining and just keep starting the new threads... keep us organized. We would probably keep on going past page 2 and then 3 and who knows what number we would end up on.
Lily.. I think they are working you too hard, time to retire and have some fun.
Maria sounds like you are ready for your Son's arrival, and you will be looking good in your new clothes when he comes.
Peggy - I have been reading about the riots. I sure hope everything calms down soon. That has to be upsetting having it happen in your own city. It can happen anywhere at anytime.

Well I have to dash out and do a couple more errands, everything is closed tomorrow, so I guess I will be forced to stay home and do some housework after I come home from the Good Friday Service at Church.

Hi Everybody Boy, going to Safeway before a holiday is like a social event. I ran into lots of my friends there. Trudy and I were following each other from store to store. It was like a game of follow the leader.
When Trudy went to her "alleged" Body Shop Party for scents and things, I asked her to order me "BERGAMOT" body lotion. I had bought the body wash before and I just love the smell of it. For those of you who have access to "The Body Shop" stop in next time and ask to smell it......
Maria do you have the chain of stores called "The Body Shop" in Australia?
Peggy that is really too bad about the riots happening in your neck of the woods. We get a little of the news but I also looked on the net tonight.
Lela where are you? We haven't "seen" you for a long time. How is school coming along?

On one of my many stops today I was buying some large navel oranges and a lady came over and was looking at them too. She said to me, "you know there is hardly any orange....it's all just this thick skin." So I smiled and said, "yes the skin is quite thick on the oranges". Then she said to me, "you know they do that on purpose", I'm thinking who does what on purpose. Well I wasn't left wondering for long, because she told me that "THEY" grow those oranges like that on purpose and charge people a lot of money to buy them, and then they don't have to give them much orange....just lots of skin. Oh Lordy, why me? LOL
So that was my Thursday.

Slavika- Thanks for the new thread. And also thanks for the recipes. One question about the cake- do you make the cake as indicated on the box and then add drained pineapple, or do you use the pineapple and juice for the liquid. I would like to try it, but want it to be right. It sounds wonderful.I believe I will also use your punch recipes too . This isn't Easter, this is a park activity and we will probably have 85 to 100 people. Have entertainment planned too, singers and 'hula "girls"'and of course the comic hula boys Just a fun time. For Easter we are going to be quiet and go out for dinner with another couple.

Trudy- What a great reward for getting to your goal. I love all that stuff and my skin needs lots of lotions.
The Toodleoo dinner was a way to have fun and also say goodby to all the winter residents. Many people only stay here for the 5 or 6 months of winter and then go back north. We are the smart ones who have made Florida our home.

Lily- I wholeheartedly agree with the rest- time to retire and just do all the stuff you like to do. I guarantee you will still be busy.

Last night was not a good one for sleeping. My DH has bronchitis and he woke up having a real problem breathing. I wanted to go to the emergency room, but typical man, said no, so there was not a lot of sleep had by anyone. He did go to the Dr. today and got a shot, medicine, and an inhaler, so hopefully tonight will be better.

Have you ever made the WW pineapple angelfood cake? Take angel cake mix, add 20oz can of crushed pineapple, juice and all . Stir in quickly and pour into a 9x13 cake pan. Bake as usual, until dry on top. Cool and serve with coolwhip. It is good and 3points for 1/16th You can also use mandarin oranges, or thawed frozen strawberies. Just need 20ozs.of fruit and liquid.

Karen- Do you share recipes with the people at your meetings? Is the subject matter for each lecture the same all over? So when out lecturer talks about BLT's or whatever, you are doing it to for that week. I've often wondered. I went to one meeting where the leader had some sort of small prize for the person who had the greatest loss for the week. I remember once I got a free session at
an exercise salon.

Peggy- Hope all will be well where you live. It is scary, and sad at the same time.It is hard to imagine the sort of frustration that breaks out in violence and rioting.
How was your bone density test? Didn' you have one just recently?

Tomorrow a group of us from church are going to visit a replica of Jerusalem, and the Temple. It has been built by a group of Jews for Jesus in Orlando. I'm looking forward to it. It should give a better idea of what life was like back then.

To answer your question Ann We are given guides to use but can talk about whatever we feel the group needs. Sometimes I've thrown my notes out and just went with the conversation that comes up. Sometimes a few members will need more input from others to get through a particular challenge. So we just go with it. We have drawing every so often and give away a cook book or some other WW product. I am going to be giving a rose to each member when she or he makes lifetime. I think that will be a nice touch don't you?? Got one next Tuesday and I am so excited .Also yes I do share a lot of recipes with my group. Makes life a little easier for them .I remember when I was losing my weight I lived to have my leader give me that kind of help.

Peggy I feel for you and the riots. Back in the 70"s when we were still in the service and overseas my DH used to have to go and help gain control of the troops when they were rioting. I remember he used to have to put on his dress uniform so they could knew who was a good guy and who was not. It was a very scary time for us.

Lily are you going to be the next one to retire? Maybe you can rest up this weekend. Hope so.

Trudy I hope hubby is better today. Men they should just go to the doctor when we tell them right.

Slavika We have The Bath and Body works here. I belive at the Mall of America there is a Bath and Body Shop. When I was in the Bath and Body Works yesterday I found a new flavor that I fell in love with called "Water Blossom Ivy" It smells so nice and fresh. And I loved the story about the oranges. People are funny.

Maria enjoy the time with your son. You sure lead a full life. You always seem to be busy. I agree with you this computer stuff is simple but only when someone shares the info.

I didn't mean for you to have to figure the recipe out by yourself, I just wanted you to kind of know what it was like to "SEE" if you would like the recipe. Actually gals you might all enjoy this recipe since it is very simple.
Ok, here it is, some of you might already have it.

You start with a white cake mix. Here in Canada we use one called "Added Touch" by Shirriff Co. and it is 150 g. pouch.
For you, my US cyberbuddies, buy a cake mix that is about 9 oz. Read the instructions on mix. Mine says:
Add 2 eggs, 1/2 cup cold water and 2 tbsp oil. You might have to buy a larger cake mix and divide in half....I've done that too. Now having said all that you just ignore the instructions on the cake mix package and do this instead:

TROPICOLADA CAKE
1 pouch (250 g or 9 oz) White Cake Mix
1 egg
1/2 cup mashed banana
1 can (14 oz.) crushed pineapple drained (RESERVE THE JUICE)
*****HINT: I cut up about 5 or 6 maraschino cherries and add that to the crushed pineapple.

COCONUT TOPPING
1/2 cup shredded sweetened coconut
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter
2 tbsp. milk

To prepare cake : Blend cake mix, egg, banana, and pineapple juice. Stir in the pineapple, Pour into greased 8" square baking pan. BAKE 350F for 30 - 35 min. REMOVE FROM OVEN.
To prepare topping: Combine coconut, brown sugar, butter, milk in a saucepan. Bring to boil over medium heat. Boil for 1 min. SPREAD OVER HOT CAKE. Broil 2 -3 min. until golden brown. Cool and serve.

Recipe says 12 servings.............4 pts per ser.
8 servings.............5.3 per ser.

Ann and everybody this is a very moist cake. You usually find these inexpensive pouch cakes by the pouches of muffin mixes and stuff like that. They usually cost only around a $1.00. This is another recipe which I have made over and over again. It's a great tea time cake or even a birthday cake and its not TOO BIG.

I'm only about half way through another book I'm reading so I have not started "Left Behind" yet.

Karen I think a rose is a lovely idea to give to someone when they make lifetime. You sound like a good leader. Slavika now you know why navel oranges have such thick skin. I always wondered. LOL Ann is the replica of Jerusalem a permanent thing or just for Easter. I would like to see it sometime. How is your DH feeling? Mine has poison ivy really bad. I am forever washing sheet and towels. We were all under curfew last night even where I live outside of the city limits. Most of the churches had to cancel their Holy Thursday services. It seems to have calmed things down hopefully. We are really a very nice city and nice friendly people even though Jerry Springer used to be our mayor. It is almost time for the kids to come. Ann: Wow that is a big party! Sounds like it will be fun. I have made the Pineapple cake before its very good. Dont know if this is the one you are talking about, but its the one I used:
serves 12 big portions........................... 3 points

1 Box Angel Food Cake Mix (one step kind where you just add water)
1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple (packed in juice)

Stir in all ingredients, then beat 1 minute. Pour into 9" x13" sprayed pyrex

Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees
DO NOT ADD EXTRA WATER

I wish I could retire. But right now its not the time. We want to get some more money into savings so we are set before I do.

These next years are the years which will give you more money for when you actually do retire and have to live on a fixed income, and Maui is very expensive. LOL So young-um keep at for a bit longer.......that's what I tell DH.

Peggy- Just got back from "The Holy Land Experience" Was wonderful. This is a permanent theme park, and they are adding to it all the time. We saw a dramatization of when Simon saw and identified Jesus on the temple steps. There is a replica of the Tabernacle of Moses time, with an explanation of the Holy of holies and the Mercy seat.There is an empty tomb and there was a drama about the Crucifixion and Easter morning. With music. The replica of Jerusalem is the city of 70ad before it was destroyed.
There is a presentation, about the city telling where everything was. Quite amazing.
I couldn't think of a nicer place to be on Good Friday. I had to use my Kleenex more than once. Can you tell I was moved and impressed? I think they change some of the presentations depending on the season.

Hope things continue to calm down in your city.
