Chinese Food

  • Hi guys! I was contemplating Chinese food for lunch, but not sure about the carb count. There's a Chinese buffet close to work, so I was thinking about going there. I'm just not sure about the carb count when it comes to sauces. Anyone have any idea what's safe? They also have this portion where you can make a mongolian grill kind of a plate - where you pick your own items and they grill it for you.

    So, chicks?
  • Hey there!
I am not on Atkins but I would say that if they would grill you some chicken or steak and you use soy sauce for your seasoning and have them steam or grill you some broccoli you should be safe Hope this helps
  • Go for the mongolian! Chinese food is generally not good because they put starches and sugars in the sauce.
  • Every place is different, but here's a link to nutritional info for Panda Express.

  • Wow, I didn't think soy sauce had carbs. Thanks so much for the info Star. I think I'll stick to the Mongolian for now.
  • Sucks don't it When I go chinese I usually get steamed veggies & ckn, they put the sauce on the side but I wind up using soy OR you can bring your own.
  • Wow I had no idea there were carbs in soy sauce either ...... sorry about that
  • I use the soy sauce - I don't think 2 grams is that bad, and I can't tolerate much of it anyway. But it's always good to do your research before you eat so you know what you're getting yourself into
  • That explains why I stay away from chinese. I don't like soy sauce (plain). Sweet and sour chicken/shrimp I like. And I also like their garlic veggies. I know, I know. MAJOR high in carb count. That's why I've not been there in AGES!
