TOPS - Tell me more

  • Hello, my name is Kari. I've been posting here at 3FC for over a year now (had another account before this one) and I just now found this TOPS thread.

I was just curious about TOPS. What is TOPS, how does it work? I may be interested in joining, but I would like to learn a little more about it.

Does it cost to join? If so, how much? Have you had any good results with TOPS?

    Please let me know!

    Thanks so much!

  • Hi Kari..

There is a post at the top of this thread that explains all about TOPS. There is a $20 yearly charge and a monthly dues which is $5 or less. (My monthly dues is $4.) TOPS is a non-profit weight loss support group and is very different than Weight Watchers. In TOPS members get to know each other and become friends. This weekend we are having our State Recognition Day (SRD), and 21 from my chapter are going to it. A state King and Queen will be crowned and division weight loss winners will be announced. It's very inspirational. To be King or Queen, you have to be the one that lost the most weight to goal in the whole state. Division winners are the ones that lost the most weight last year in their weight division. So, TOPS is fun and inspirational. You can also check out www.tops.org

Tops has made a difference in my life. I have not reached by goal weight, but I have learned a lot about healthy eating and have been able to keep my weight under control. If I don't have something to keep me in check, my weight would go up, up, up.

    Hope this helps.

  • Kari,

Welcome to our boards here. Nita has given you some info and like she said check out the other thread that Eleni posted and keeps at the top of page for new comers. Like any other program Tops is a great support group and you get out of it what you put into it. If you are willing to do the work and support your other members while they support you then you can also be successful. I think Tops is a great program myself if you have the right group behind you. There have been many people that have succeeded with their weightloss goals through Tops. You can to.

    Nita,

Are you ready for SRD? I am sure you and Eleni will have a great time. I just wished that when I was in Tops I got to go myself. They cheated me out of that. I knew it would be great and inspirational.
I hope you have a great time this weekend with all your fellow members. Enjoy.

As for me I am doing fine. The scale is climbing but I don't have any control over it right now. I haven't been eating junk or way too much it just must be the baby. My daughter is counting down the days until he is born. 13 days to go. I can't wait. I feel sooooo heavy it is aweful. At least I know what it is like to be this weight and I know I don't want to be here that is for sure.
Megan has her first T Ball practice tomorrow night. I won't be able to be as active this year as I was last year unfortunatly. I had a lot of fun with the team. But it will be nice to be there and watch.
Nothing else happening here. Had a good check up with the dr this morning. He said not to get me down but to know that even though everything seems to be ok with the baby there still is a risk of danger when he is born from the Diabetes. Hopefully I kept it under control enough so he won't suffer. He said the numbers looked good so far for the sugar but time will tell. I just hope and pray he is healthy when he is born. I go tomorrow for all my pretesting for the surgery and for my weekly non stress test. Then T Ball practice tomorrow night. So it will be a busy day. But the good thing is that I can sleep in because megan is spending the night at my parents new house tonight and I will pick her up after my appts tomorrow.

I will check in with you all in the morning. Have a great night everyone.
