Intolerance/allergy to eggs and SBD???

  • I've been a member of this site for almost a year and have found wonderful support. Last summer I lost about 12 pounds on Atkins, but found it very difficult because: 1) I am not a person who loves mass quantities of meat and fatty foods--they make me want to gag after a while, and 2) I don't eat eggs because I am either intolerant or allergic (I've never been tested--not yet at least). Whenever I eat them, I get a terrible stomachache starting about 90 minutes after eating and lasting about 3 hours. This has been going on off and on since I was about 13 (I'm 48), but in the past couple of years or so, my symptoms have been pretty consistent and have moved to things like mayo or crepes or french toast--a small amount of egg in the item, where before I only got sick when eating full-strength eggs. I will probably get myself tested in the next few months. At any rate, I GET SICK WHEN I EAT EGGS!!! I am interested in SBD--got the book and read part of it, and it seems more to my liking--more real over the long haul. What I need, though, are some suggestions for varying my diet, especially during the Phase 1 stage, since I can't eat eggs. Just like in Atkins, eggs seem to be a mainstay during the Phase 1 section of SBD. With the restrictions, I about go crazy during the first two weeks because of repitition. How much dairy can I do during Phase 1, and what other possibilities are there for me? Low-carb is really the best way for me to lose weight, so I want to make this work. Help!!! Thanks in advance
  • There is no need to eat eggs! Just eat the other foods on the approved list. Please see the stick re the latest allowed foods in this section. I believe you are allowed up to 2 cups of dairy.
