Starting Over

  • Hi Everyone. My name is Angela and I am starting another diet tomorrow. I've tried South Beach, got bored, I've tried LA Weight Loss, couldn't take chicken and salad all the time, tried Atkins, ick. . . . I've tried WW previously but could never stick with it for a very long time. Well, I am hoping that I've had my "defining moment" everyone talks about this weekend. It really wasn't anything major, just how uncomfortable I am in a t-shirt, what with it stickin to my belly and all. I am a young (yes, 34 is young) mother of two, a five and a two year old, and have a wonderful husband who tries so hard to support my weight loss efforts. I am all set to do WW again. I will be doing it at home this time, just downloaded Anna's Excel Spreadsheet and have all the points ranges I need. I am going to be trying the Wendi plan and see how that works. I just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully, this is something I can be successful in. I want to at least lose 40 pounds by November. We're going to Disneyland and I want to be comfortable with myself! I have 95 to lose all together. I can't believe it's that much but it is.
    Thanks for listening (or reading!)!
  • Angela - I just started back on WW about a week ago. I had a pity party/fit Friday night because I wanted a treat from Dairy Queen and got made because I couldn't have it. But, I stayed in my point range and lost 3.5 on my first week. Then, DH and I got ice cream cones with some of my FPs and went for a walk. It was a good, guilt-free date.

I think that doing WW at home is definately harder. You need someone keeping you accountable. My DH is very supportive. So much so, I want to slug him sometimes. But, we cannot afford the meetings right now.

Good luck with your goal. It is definately doable. Have you been to an amusement park lately? It is miserable when you sit in the ride and wonder if the bar is going to reach. Or you have to check the weight limits because you know you might exceed. I don't like going on the water rides because my thighs will rub together and I will be miserable the rest of the day. And let's not forget the family photos that you will hate later because you don't even recognize that person. Uh... I'm not trying to depress you here. Just thought it might help your resolve to not get board with this one. WW is great for me because if I want a cheeseburger, I can have it. Just gotta do a little planning. It's almost a game.

    Have a great OP week!

  • hello ladies! ~smiling brightly and waving~ thats one of the best things about WW and dieting now-a-days....... its all about what you can have/ what you can do.... no more no-no´s, no more......."YOU CAN NEVER EAT THAT AGAIN......" ~insert evil manical laugh here~ ......... coupled with the flexability of the program, formal meetings, relaxed at home, or inbetween just using boards till your wake up call.....

the only sure fire way to fail....is to not do nothing at all. lifes to short not to make the most of it, count me in!

Hi Melanie I had to chuckle when I read this...FYI....a nice tasty alternative that I discovered recently is the Fruit & Yogurt Parfaits from MacDonald's. Without the granola, they are only 3 points! I'm addicted to them. They used to be 6 points (and the 3Fchicks fast food database has them at 6 points still) but they changed the size from 10 oz cups to 5 oz cups. I went to the MacDonalds website and got the info myself. Give them a try sometime, if you havent already.

  • Angela - Where did you find Anna's spreadsheet and Wendi's plan? I'm starting at home on Monday and need all the help I can get. Thanks!

  • Angela, good luck you can do it!

I am 30 years old with two girls ages 2 and 6. I need to loose 30-40 pounds. I can't even believe I let myself gain that much

I try to just look at it one day at a time or I get overwhelmed with seeing how long and how much I need to loose, that really helps me.

I have only gained weight after having my youngest daugher so this last year I have tried everything from Atkins (yuck, couldn't do that for more than a day), South Beach which I did like a lot better than Atkins. Weight Watchers IMO is the best because you can customize it to your likes and there is really nothing you can't eat (I even still drink regular cokes a few times a week). I eat a lot of fruits and veggies (most are 0-1 pts) and that helps me a LOT to stay full and I like to snack a lot....lol

Anyways, good luck and just take it one day at a time, if you mess up just learn from it and go on! That is what I tell myself anyways....lol

  • Hi Ladies, I am new here, but not new to Weight Watchers unfortunately. I have joined 5 or 6 times over the years. This time I am not joining, but am going to do this on my own! But hopefully not really on my own, and that's why I'm here. I am 35, mom of 3, ages 3-14. I also have a day care in my home which makes my food choices so difficult sometimes! I am starting the Wendie plan today. Anyone have luck with that version? I need support badly. I am one of those who will lose 5 pounds and throw myself a party by eating everything in sight, you know, a real sabotager. I'm hoping this site will help me stay on track. However I've never used a message board so this is all new to me, like a foreign language.
