Weightloss before concieving??

  • Hey all! By July I want to start trying for our second baby. I will be 30lbs lighter by then, or so that's my plan.

Anyone else have plans like these??
  • Patience,
Sounds good to me! That's a doable goal. i have to be at my goal weight before I can think of getting pregnant again. We're going ot wait for another year or so though, I'm a mom of a 10 month old.

  • Well, Sean is 9 months old. The way I figure, when we start TTCing around July.. and if we succeed in July, Sean will be 21 months old.. but who knows how long it will take us to concieve!
  • That is the same goal I had before baby #1 and #2 and both times I met it. Now I have to lose the PG weight from #2, plus the balance that I did not lose before the PG. My girls are 2 1/2 years apart. Have fun TTC-ing!
  • I'm also trying to lose about 40 lbs before we have a baby. I already know that I'm going to have complications that will put me on bed rest for most of the pregnancy so I would like to get down to a good, but healthy, weight in case I put on a little too much sitting around the house..lol. With my daughter I put on 100 lbs when PG and I never lost half of it.. and she's 8! So I'm hoping after our trip to FL in July I'll be half way to my goal so by the end of the summer we can start trying, (or at least practice )
  • Yes, I have no children but have been HAPPILY MARRIED for almost 8 years. I am twenty six years old and want children desperatly. So does my husband. I feel that I need to lose 100 pounds first for fear of complications.

Good luck to you. We can do this!

    Momma wanna bes!
  • Im brand new to these boards. Im still trying to figure out which plan I think will suit my lifestyle the best. My husband and I just had our first child 5 months ago. I put about 70 pounds on top of the 30 I had already wanted to lose pre-pregnancy. We really want to start trying for number 2 in August/September and I need to feel better about myself and my health before we can do that. I very much need a support group and I look forward to starting this journey.

Im a teacher and an after school sponsor so I have little time for organized meetings. I also hate the idea of paying for support. Can anyone tell me if WW is really worth the money and how the point system works?
  • I am also trying to lose before pregnancy! I do not have any children and am ready to start trying, but have decided that I am not happy with myself right now so I am trying to lose about 35 or more pounds before I can try to do this. I don't want complications and I don't want weight to be a factor.
  • My goal is to lose 10% before TTCing...I have 18lbs to go (just re-joined WW )
  • WW is worth the money

Symmer- I joined WW three months after having my son. The combo of WW, regular excercise and breastfeeding (don't know if you are) CAN NOT BE BEAT. Honestly! The 40 lbs I lost with that combo were by far the easiest I have ever lost. I will say this- WW is worth the money. Just knowing that you have to go and weigh in each week makes all the difference when you are trying to lose weight, and I have gotten some great suggestions from other members at meetings. Also, if you look online at weightwatchers.com, you can "find a meeting" by entering your zip code. I know in my area, there are enough meetings within a 10 minute drive that I can basically go any day, any time. I bet you can find a meeting close to work or home that will work for you.

If you are breastfeeding, I found WW to be great- you get so many extra points a day (so that you don't jeopardize your milk supply) that it is REALLY easy to stay on plan.

Whatever you do- BEST OF LUCK (losing weight and TTC!)
  • I to am trying to loose some weight before ttc. I did WW online but I couldnt stick to it.. I am thinking about starting the WW meetings.. I think it would make me work harder to loose the lbs rather then just weighing in at home in front of the cat LOL I am 6'1" and right now I am at 225 and I would like to be at 160-170 before we ttc. Is there anyone who would like to buddy up and do this together?
