Calorie Points System!!

  • Hi all,

Just wonder if anyone has heard or is familiar with counting calories using the "Calorie Point System"?? I know diabetics use this for meal planning sometimes if they count calories for their weight loss diet plan. It is actually just a simplified way to count your calories for the day. (1 calorie point=75 calories.) Hence, 1500 calories/20 calorie points. If you were on a 1500 calorie diet.

SO if anyone is familiar or knows about this way of counting your calories,
    PLEASE contact me. Thanks alot!

  • Are you talking about the ADA diet? I think they phased that out and went to counting carbohydrates at meals. You can read something about it here:

  • This explains the ADA diet and an alternate method:

Sorry I can't help you more!
  • WELCOME Fitchers!!

I haven't heard of that for calories, but I was just reading a pamphlet Lifescan sent me in the mail about counting Carbs. 15 Carbs = 1 Point...and you just round off to the next highest carb if it is an odd #. Like 42 Carbs would round off to 3 Points. Sorry I can't help ya on the other one though I would be interested in learning how calories are counted. When I feel better I will check into this more.

Thanks for coming by!! Feel free to browse and post in the threads.
  • Weight Watchers counts points instead of cals, could this be what your talkng about?
