Need help what to feed DH on SBD

  • My DH and I started SBD yesterday and while I've found the food to be plenty my husband seems to be always hungry. I don't know what else to feed him. Is this part of the detoxing to feel hungry? Anybody else doing this with there DH or SO and if so how do you change the portions or supplement the food so it's enough for them.

    Thanks

    Gina
  • Hi Gina

My DH started with me today, and he is overly hungry as well
I bought him some cashews, some low fat cheddar, and thin sliced turkey to snack on, he is doing good now that he can grab a little something between meals, And yes I am sure it is part of the detox process It will pass...tell him not to give up and you just encourage him that it will end in a loss and a happy healthier lifr for the both of you
  • Gina, I did what Christian did. I bought things he usually like to snack on that are included on the diet---cheese sticks, turkey rolled up with a smidge of cream cheese inside, lots of different nuts, whatever---and I just gave him the go-ahead on them at snacktime, saying' you know when you're overeating---I'm not your mommy!' Maybe make him his own little corner of the fridge, or assign him a bin in there for his 'stuff'. I keep pisatchios, cashews, toasted almonds, cut up veggies, some SF hard candy, and some leCarb ice cream and Carb smart ice cream bars in the freezer. He is probably going through some carb-withdrawal. It passes.

You should consider Private messaging RealtorRose - she's struggling with a hungry husband too.
  • In MHO I think we hear the word diet and we get hungry. I'm on a diet I'm starving! Where as if you were not you may not be as hungry as you think you are. I know for me I think sometimes oh I don't have anything to eat I'm starving when really it's just a thing of knowing you cannot eat everything you want. Try to get him to drink a bottle of water and then see if he is still hungry. If he is then have him go through the food list and tell you what all he wants for his snacks. Just tryin to help. My dh eats what and all he wants with no problem. Yesterday he came home ate a piece of cake and then gave me a peck on the lips. Let me just say that was the sweetest kiss I've had in a long time! I told him don't be eatin cake and kissin me I can't take it! I'm goin to dry my hair now and go to bed.
  • Thanks all I appreciate the feedback. I guess I'll stock up on some nuts, cheese, etc... for him.
  • I find that grape or cherry tomatoes are a good snack for both myself and my DH.
We like unsalted cashews, almonds, sugar free jello and low fat cheese too.
I used to hate celery but find that I enjoy it now with the low fat laughing cow cheese.

I like the idea of his and hers snack bins - I think I will incorporate that into our plan
  • Bamiegirl!

I agree about the diet==hungry thing.

My DS is the difficult one. He stays home sick yesterday from school (he's 17) and asks me to make him boxed Macaroni and cheese for lunch. Now, I don't really even care for boxed M and C, but of course, it looked really good, and I am PMS-ing and wanting carbs this week. I stayed out of it. So, I come up here to the computer/tv room and on all the chairs./couch are bags of candy/chips/junk food left over from the super bowl! SIGH!
