I have bit of a problem. I was doing great for 9 weeks on WW and I am gained weight this week. The only big difference in my weight lose plan is that I increased my exercise. I used to take a leisurely walk for 35 minutes at night and jog one day a week. Three weeks ago I started walking one hour 5 days a week, jogging 3 miles in 30 minutes one day a week and resting one day a week. I walk 4 miles in an hour at a Lake near work and it is the best part of my day. The first week of increased walking I lost 1.5 pounds. The second week I lost nothing. Now, this week I am up 4 lbs. I eat 2-3 extra points each day I walk and 3 points extra on the day I jog. Usually, I eat 20 flex points a week. Am I adding too many or too few points? How many points extra is it for walking 1 hour at 4 miles per hour? I say 2-3, but who knows. Buy the way, I still take my leisurely walk at night, but don’t count those points because it was my normal routine before starting WW. Any advice would be appreciated.
I can't help you with points, but it sounds as if you have put on some muscle, and possibly some bone mineral mass as well-- especially if you are jogging a bit. It may also take a little extra blood volume to support the new muscle/bone. Are you using the measuring tape as well as the scale? I would keep records of your bust, waist, hips, right thigh, and right bicep (or left side if you are left-handed). By keeping records, you'll know whether you're getting fitter and slimmer, no matter what the scale says. It's also motivating when things don't seem to be going your way. I have my measurements on a spreadsheet, with a line graph, and it helps a lot to visualize my (slow!) progress. I was 45-38-47 in July 2002, now I'm 43-35-43. That means I was a size 22-24, now I'm a 14-16. So keeping records of your "volume" as well as weight is the best way, IMO.
You are definitely gaining muscle, but also you do know you don't HAVE to add any points for the exercise right? Maybe try not adding so many this week and see how it goes. Just experiment all bodies and metabolisms are different.
I never really thought in terms of body size. I know how my clothes feel. LOOSE!!! I don’t own a tape measure, but can get one this weekend. It would be interesting to monitor my shrinkage.
I love to walk at the lake. I also love to eat the extra points that come with it. Perhaps I will try one week of not eating the exercise points (as suggested) and see how that goes. I sure will miss the larger breakfast though. I walk before work and then eat breakfast at my desk. I was eating a 2 point breakfast, but on exercise days I have been eating a 4 point breakfast. I like a larger breakfast. I never know when I will have time for lunch.
I noticed that fast track has a 6 point breakfast. WOW, I could eat a ton of food for 6 points.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
