Ok. Here is the story Jhanai wanted me to tell.
Way back in '90 a few months before I got married, I lived in Lake Tahoe with my ex (then boyfriend) We had lived there for a few months when I lost my job and he quit his. (don't ask me why he quit!!) So here we were, no family around and no job. I wanted to go back to Oregon, he wanted to go to Illinois to see his mom that he had just contacted by phone, but hadn't seen in 9yrs. I figured we might as well go see his mom....
Where were we going to get the money? Well, neither of us had jobs so I made a phone call to my grandparents (one I hated to make) I explained to them what we wanted to do and neither one of them wanted me to go so they didn't want to give money, unless I was coming home. (I probably should have done that!) But silly young me, thought I needed to stay with my boyfriend. We made some other calls and got nothing.
So here we were, sitting in one of the large halls in one of the casinos (we had to make calls on the payphone) and I had just got off the phone with my grandma once more and I sat on some steps. My ex sat next to me and I was upset. All of the sudden... a man appeared in front of us. I thought he wanted to go up the steps. But he just stood there. Finally he said.
"I'm sorry to bother you but I overheard your conversation on the phone. I could help you with your financial problems." Then proceeds to flash money...lots of it! My ex asks
"What's the catch?" Well this man said:
"Well, I have here $2000 that I will give you. You can take your lady to a nice dinner, rent a hotel room then get your tickets to leave to where it is you want to go" My ex:
"But how could we repay you?" Man:
"When I'm ready to get it back, I'll knock on your door"
Instantly I felt ill. This man had $2000 in his hand, we had nothing. His deal was wrong! My gut knew it.. and I was hoping my ex knew it too. I looked at this mans face... and couldn't see anything. This hall was brightly lit up...but I could not see a face! It was more of a blur...a dark, shadowy blur. And I wanted to cry. Well my ex just said.
"No thanks, we'll pass" The man said,
"Ok... but it's a lot of money you don't have, and I'll just give it to you" My ex said no once more, then looked at me and noticed a relief on my face and when we went to say thanks for the offer... the man wasn't there. This was a split minute of me and my ex exchanging looks and the man disappeared!! And this hall was long so it wasn't like he could just walk around the corner and we know he didn't go up the stairs.
I was shaking, so I immediately called my grandma just to tell her the story and she said it sounded like a visit from the devil

... then she mailed me the money.
It was horrible. And I'm glad we weren't selfish or greedy enough to take the money. Makes my tummy hurt to this day thinking about it.
That's one of my stories. I think we should repost or copy the other stories onto this thread. Makes for interesting reading. Well, I need to get off of here after telling this one. Freaky.......
Until next time.
