I have been skimming over the threads in this forum and I have seen some mention of a diet with a reward meal??
I have some questions that I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on for me.
First a little about me.
I recently lost over 20lbs on Weight Watchers. I really liked the diet because I could eat the foods I like, and simple learned to control portions.
I swim laps two times a week and weight train 2 times a week.
I have been at a stand still in my weight loss routine. I would really like to shed my last 5-7 pounds.
For the past month I decided I would just take a break from dieting and go into maintence...to sort of re-group if you will. I have been 100% succesful with this....but of course, I still keep thinking how am I going to lose that last 5-7.
This is where low carb comes in. I looked into Atkins, but I just don't think it is the right lifestyle for me. For starters I don't eat meat or poultry. I do eat fish, but I really don't like nuts. I'm just not sure I'd do well on it for the rest of my life.
So I started thinking about what if Ijust cut my carbs back. Would that work? Hmmm..but cut back to what? 50, 70 100 carbs a day?
But now, I saw some conversations about this diet where it seems you eat really low carb during the day then get some kind of reward meal with carbs?
This might be something I can do but I don't know exactly what it is.
Can anyone help me out or offer any suggestions on how they lost their last pounds to reach goal?
Thanks!

tracie, it sounds like you are referring to the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet by the Hellers. i personally follow atkins. someone else might be able to give you more specific information. good luck with the last 5 to 7! welcome to 3fc!
??? are you really needing to lose that last 5-7 lbs are you going by numbers?? if so then re-evaluate if you are lifting weights then you have an increased muscle mass look at your body fat % under 20% is great!! and you shouldnot go too far under that unless you are in training for weight contests. the body uses the fat for hormone storage, and if you go under too far then you start having hormone problems and menstral cycle irrigularities. there are a few sites that you can find out a crude BF% but I would trot down to the local gym and have some one do a real %. before you go and worry about that last 5-7. Are you really unhappy with your shape?? if it is that hard to get off it just may not want to go. that last few are the hardest to lose. I do not want to talk you out of trying low carb, but I also want you to be realistic. You can lose the weight with low carb but I will be honest your will find that the way you feel will be the better benifit.
the CAD Carbo Addicts Diet you are strict with the carbs to the point of exclusion untill the reward eman then you eat in for only 1 hour, for each carb portion you eat 1 vegie and 1 meat. this you also can do low fat. It does work if you can control the reward mean. duing this time you must eat your desert. the point of thewhole woe is that if you keep your carbs down and limited to under the hour then your body willl not send out the second wave of insulin there for saving your body from having to have the effects from the insulin.
Welll now that I was on the soap box I will get down and say welcome!!!
Thanks for the replies!
To answer the question if I am happy with my body shape, that would be a no.
Honestly, I don't mind my actual weight all that much, it's my size. I wear a size 13 juniors jeans very comfortably, but I really want to be a smaller size.
My legs are heavy, especially around my knees and inner thighs. It seems like that is the first place fat is stored on me and last place that I lose it. It is stubborn.
5-7 pounds may not seem like a lot, but it is. Have you ever seen one of thoise fat models? 1 pound of fat takes up a lot of space! It actaully helped me to see that model, because I orginially felt like I needed to lose 10-15 pounds. NOw I realize that I would look pretty darn boney if I did that. I do have a muscular shape, but my legs/knees really make me feel uncomfortable. The funny part is my legs are by far the most muscualr part on my body.
Carbohydrates Addicts Diet is the name then? I think I saw a book on that and will need to look into it.
I went to start low carbing this morning and was sitting here drinking my coffee when I saw a spelnda post.
Needless to say I already blew it. I did not know Splenda had carbs in it. I'm already up to 4 carbs an it is not even 6AM.
Which brings up another problem for me. I wake up weekedays at 5am, get to work by 7AM and work till 5PM everyday.
I have a lot of trouble going through the morning hours. I try to eat a small snack when I get to work and then try to wait till 10AM to eat my breakfast. I don't eat lunch till 1PM.
Any thoughts?

Oh many My dear friend I too have to be at work at 7 am and do not get out until like 530. I too get the munchies about mid day I hardly manage to get to lunch though and that is not good
suggestions..
have a few eggs hard boiled ready for the munchies
protien bars Limit them!!!!
protien shake
cheese
peperoni
and few other things would help.
As for the thighs I know that feeling I have it all over but the happiness of who you are is the most important. I was when i was questioning if the last 5-10 if you were absurdly skinny and trying to lose that last few (I have a few friends that are looking to do that, and they are getting the same responce that I gave you, sorry)
For the thighs what about fast walking??? treadmill and lifts and lunges. and few other things that are good for the thighs it looks like you just need to tighten up there can you try running???? the body no matter where you keep your core weight be it thighs, hips belly boobs arms it will not come off untill you get closer to goal. that is the first place you gain and the last place it looses. you can not spot lose but you can certaily firm up those muscles so it can change the shape of your thighs.
