focusing on more

  • So yeah -- I can't get back in virgin pound territory and I am sick of it!!!

    I've decided not to weigh in until November 30th. I haven't weighed in since last week. That gives me another 2 weeks to lose the at least -1,-2,-3,-4, or -5 lbs. that I want to be in virgin territory.

    It also gives me time to focus on me and how I feel.

    I sometimes focus too much on my weight and forget about inches!

    I've only lost 29 pounds, but I've gone from wearing a size 24 to an 18 -- some 16's even! And that's something to be proud of, as well as something I tend to forget!

    So to celebrate, I am selling a lot of clothes on eBay. I've donated over $500 worth to Goodwill [NOT THE SALVATION ARMY!] but need to make some money to buy new ones -- it's expensive!

    It feels so final for me. On one hand, I am scared of gaining it back but on the other, getting this stuff out of my closet feels so freeing! I took pictures of everything and made the page. I just need to upload the photos and put it up. I think, since I would be getting out of work late tonight, I am going to make it my Friday project.

    I guess my post to you all, aside from venting, is:

    1. Do you focus too much on the # on the scale and not the inches?

    2. What have you done with all your "too big for me" clothes?

  • Ok, good questions..

    1. Yes and no.. I weigh in every morning which I really shouldn't do but it just helps to keep me on track. B/C if I snacked late or didn't get my water in or cheated then I expect to see a gain and then can give myself a swift kick and get going again.. But the downside of that is that if I cheated and didn't gain then I don't get back as quickly and if I've been good and gained then it's like a national tradegy and can ruin my day..

    2. My too big for me clothes are gone, outta here, buh-bye! As soon as something is too big ( I mean as soon as!!), I put it into a bag in my closet. When the bag is full, I take them to Goodwill and say adios!! So if I have a big gain, I'm outta luck because I literally have nothing to wear!!

    (1). Yes. I totally rely on the scale. I'm in TOPS and each week we weigh in. No measurements are taken. Our success is determined by how many pounds we lose. I am completely at the mercy of the scale. I took my measurements a long time ago, but I haven't lately. They're just not that important to me. The number on the scale and sizes mean everything!

    (2). I have three bags of too-big clothes and shoes that I have been procrastinating about taking to Goodwill. I did all the cleaning and sorting out, I just haven't gotten them to where they need to be. I don't have much money at all to be spending on clothes, so I actually bought a pair of jeans at Goodwill to last me until the next size, then I'll just go back and get another pair or two. I'm not going to buy any nice, new clothes until I get to my goal weight. Mainly because of money, but it also keeps my motivation up. But, the Goodwill jeans are really good, actually -- they're about $5, and I found some great brands and ones in great shape!

    I don't really think so, or at least the way I do it works for me! The only measurement I take is my waist, and I do that approx. once a month, so I do focus more on the scale numbers....but I only weigh once a week (haven't cheated yet!), and it's on Saturday morning, right after I wake up & pee, and I have to be naked! I also look at the fit of clothing a lot, too....I generally have at least one "goal" item in my closet at any given time (you know, something I *almost* fit into, that I try on every week or two, until it fits well!).

    2. What have you done with all your "too big for me" clothes?

    GOTTEN RID OF THEM!!! I've given lots away to Goodwill, and another neat thing is that a friend of mine was able to use a bunch of the shirts, so I gave them to her! (She's an apple, I'm a pear; you see how this works).
    I have a good idea for some of my big clothes (the size 12-14 stuff).....since my ultimate size will probably be a 10 (maybe some 8's mixed in there, we'll see), and since we also want to have a baby about 2 years from now....I'm going to save some of the last "big" clothes (particularly pants) for the pregnancy transitions (early pregancy, and immediately-post-pregnancy)....kinda handy how it's working out! I figure I'll save a bundle of money that way!
