Trudy: NT2000 is an operating system like Windows 98 etc. U turn is yummy. You might find them in a health food asile at your store. I have seen them other places than Trader Joes. Costco here has them also.

Lily: Thanks for the new thread. Yes, I sell them, now and again. Since I sold them for our Fall Festival, people saw them and wanted Christmas ones, which were sold out, so that is how I got the order. I've never advertised, because they do take a lot of time and so I do them on a hit or miss fashion.

Except in parades, however, the men and women who have
kept America safe wear no badge or emblem. You can't tell
a vet just by looking. What is a vet?

A vet is the cop on the beat who spent six months in Saudi
Arabia sweating two gallons a day making sure the armored
personnel carriers didn't run out of fuel.

A vet is the barroom loudmouth, dumber than five wooden
planks, whose overgrown frat-boy behavior is outweighed a
hundred times in the cosmic scales by four hours of
exquisite bravery near the 38th Parallel.

A vet is the nurse who fought against futility and went to
sleep sobbing every night for two solid years in Da Nang.

A vet is the POW who went away one person and came back
another - or didn't come back at all.

A vet is the drill instructor who has never seen combat -
but has saved countless lives by turning slouchy,
no-account punks and gang members into marines, airmen,
sailors, soldiers and coast guardsmen, and teaching them
to watch each other's backs.

A vet is the parade-riding Legionnaire who pins on his
ribbons and medals with a prosthetic hand.

A vet is the career quartermaster who watches the ribbons
and medals pass him by.

A vet is the three anonymous heroes in The Tomb Of The
Unknowns, whose presence at the Arlington National
Cemetery must forever preserve the memory of all the
anonymous heroes whose valor dies unrecognized with them
on the battlefield or in the ocean's sunless deep.

A vet is the old guy bagging groceries at the supermarket
- palsied now and aggravatingly slow - who helped liberate
a **** death camp and who wishes all day long that his
wife were still alive to hold him when the nightmares
come.

A vet is an ordinary and yet extraordinary human being, a
person who offered some of his life's most vital years in
the service of his country, and who sacrificed his
ambitions so others would not have to sacrifice theirs.

A vet is a soldier and a savior and a sword against the
darkness, and he is nothing more that the finest, greatest
testimony on behalf of the finest, greatest nation ever
known.

So remember, each time you see someone who has served our
country, just lean over and say, "Thank You." That's all
most people need, and in most cases it will mean more than
any medals they could have been awarded or were awarded.

Two little words that mean a lot, "THANK YOU."

Was here earlier then got a phone call and had to track my dh down. Now there is a nice new thread and I hope I can remember what I was going to say.

Karen how sad for your sil. That's so nice of your to open your heart and your home to her. I hope it all works out for all of you. I hear you about the small house cause I have one too.

Ann you sweatshirts sound nice. I have 2 I have to get started painting. Have you ever tried So Soft paint for fabric? It's made for fabric and is softer than regular acrylic with medium in it.

Got to run and take a call from my son. He wants his Euros I got for him. He and wife are going to Italy later this week.

I love the look of quilling but have never tried or done it myself. Is it very difficult? I imagine it would be very fiddly.
We are not only a bunch of good looking dollies but very enterprising as well

Slavika what a pain in the neck your s-i-l , sounds like one of those typical 'beige' people, no adventure. Mind you it is not as though you were THAT adventurous by painting all the rooms bright colours
Talking about family that are pains, my sister seems to be a lot better, not as argumentative or rude as she has been. It may just be a temporary thing but she has been almost pleasant

Peggy holiday in Italy sounds lovely, I only saw a program on Tuscanny last night on TV, beautiful.

If any of you want a fun, feel good movie get the DVD 'Mrs Caldicot Cabbage War'. It was delightful. I felt it was my turn to get a DVD for the night and came home with this one. MY dh thoroughly enjoyed it despite no 'guts, violence or action'

Before she knows it, Thelma has signed away her house and is placed in a resthome run by a profit making company who prefer the residents to be quiet, docile and fee paying.
With a colourful cast of elderly residents, Thelma leads an old folks home revolt which is sparked by the daily ritual of boiled cabbage for dinner !!!!!

Guys, It is so nice to have time to read a little bit of the threads. Sounds as if you are all busy as usual. Maria, you are in business for yourself? You do such good work that I am sure you will be very successful. I just loved our collage. So much fun to see the friends we have talked to and known for years, isn't it?

Karen - I remember your talking about your SIL before. She is lucky to have you all and you will be so blessed that you helped her out. Maybe you can kind of shield her from her kids. She might be good company for you also. I believe your kids see what you do and they assimilate those values more by example than talk.

Slavika, unfortunately I am a white wall person too, but I always love to see what others do with their homes with color. If I am adventurous, it is by using an old sewing machine table as an end table with a spittoon full of potpourri. I can't believe your SIL was so critical. My DIL has such a knack for decorating and she just astounds me with her flair. Your house sounds delightful.

Liuly - Good for you with the new clothes! There is nothing that makes me feel better than new clothes. It is so much fun seeing what you look like.

Peggy, Anne - Can't stay long. You crafters are so creative. I hope when I retire I can find something fun to do. I think I would like to quilt. Got to go.

It has been very exciting and I still cannot believe that at 58 I am doing something that I love to do.
I am also pleased that I am getting customers!
How successful it is going to be I won't know until perhaps 12 months down the track, in the meantime I will just continue enjoying what I do.
I agree it is nice to now be able to put a face to everyone's name.

Lily had to laugh at the 5000 new sweaters. That sounds like a lovely dream. Enjoy wearing every last one of them.

Slavika - don't worry about what your sil thinks. You live there and if you like it that's all that counts. It's your home. I have always had white or light beigey walls and when I painted the green it took me a while to get used to it.

Trudy that was an interesting article on cholesterol. THanks for sharing it. Lots of food for thought there.

Ann - you have lots of patience to do quilling. Don't you have to wind it around some little thingy? Love the look and would love to see your cards. If I lived in your park I would probably be one of your best customers. I am making cards this year using the tag idea I saw on ebay. Made some of the tags and they are fun and easy.

Glenda it is nice to see you again. I love the old sewing machine table. Marnie can teach you quilting. Hers look beautiful. I bet she is making us all one for Christimas-sort of like those tree skirts from a couple of years ago. LOL

Well we still haven't finalized the trip plans for SIL. But hope to get it done today the plane fares will get higher the closer we get to the holiday. We are all very excited about SIL coming. She is a very sweet lady most of the time but can be very depressing at times. I'm hoping with love and support and living in a calm environment will make her feel more secure and maybe drive away some of the depression.

We are expecting a snow fall today I hope it waits until I get home this afternoon. Have to drive over to Alexandria to give a 100# certificate to a lady who was one of my members before I gave up that meeting. Anyway she wants me to give it to her. So I'll take a drive and maybe even stay for the meeting. Haven't done that in a while.

Slavika sorry your sil was a pain where a pill won't reach. But some people are just that way. Just forget what she said. Your home sound beautiful to me.

The other day I did a small favor for my DD and she said "Thanks Mom I owe you big time." Well I thought for a minute and told her she could paint my kitchen for me it she was willing. She is game. So now will just have to decide when is the best time and what color I want it.

Maria you are going to be so busy with your new business. I hope you will still find time to visit with us.

Lily Shopping is so fun. And I think 5000 sweaters is a very nice round number. Every one needs that many.

Karen, best of luck with the new family "member." I think that is a very selfless thing you're doing; I don't mean to give advice, but don't let her bring your own home down - especially if she tends to be depressed.

Lily, I'm afraid to weigh in next week. While gone, we tended to eat a lot more.

I would love to make quilts for you all; I'm not sure I have that many years left on my life expectancy. I DID finish the quilt for DS's girlfriend. Now I'm trying to finish a Christmas wall hanging for our living room.

Very early here and already quite warm. It is going to be a very hot weekend
DS and wife came over for dinner last night. Boy they pack a lot in their day, after work they both went to the gym, then rode their bikes to our place (about 45 minutes ride), left the bikes at our place walked to the beach had a swim, came back had showers and finally at 7.30pm we sat down to have dinner

Marnie nice to see you 'home' again. It is always difficult the 'eating' thing when you are away. Our weekend in Melbourne worked well, ate lots of fruit and drank lots of water whilst driving and dd is a bit of a health freak so being a guest at her place is no problem.

Karen I had never heard the saying 'she is a pain where a pill won't reach'
I do think you and your dh are taking on a huge commitment taking in your s-i-l but I would imagine it is not something you decided overnight. I feel sure things will work out. I also do remember you speaking of her quite some time ago and her sad life.
I will NEVER be too busy to come here Karen, you are not going to get rid of me that easily

Received another email from a potential customer He send me 4 photos and he wants different people put into the different photos. I will do one and then put 'MES Designs' over it as a watermark, email it back and give him the price to have the lot done!
I have to invest in a new scanner, my current scanner is just not up to standard for my work. I will probably get the Epson Perfection 2400x4800. Spent a lot of time researching scanners and that seems to be the best for what I need for high quality photo scans.

It is really a nice day today, warmer with lots of sunshine. The dampness was really hard to deal with. I saw Slavika on Monday and the both of us were having sinus problems accompanied with various aches and pains. Since Rememberance Day fell on "our" Tuesday, we did Monday instead. Tuesday was like a weekend day and today I am totally .
Lily your sweater purchase sounds like something I would like to do. Last spring I got rid of so many sweaters, so I could use a few new ones. I mainly wear sweaters in the winter months... cowl necks being my favorite. I did buy a Nygard sweater with a split cowl neck... the split is on the shoulder. It is a charcol color. The stores are getting so crowded now, everyone is out buying Christmas presents. I haven't started yet.
Ann I enjoyed the poem too, thanks for sharing it.
Peggy I just knew it wouldn't take you long to start another project. I am sure the sweat shirts will turn out great.
Maria I haven't heard of "Mrs. Caldicot Cabbage War". I bet I would like it though. Sometimes it takes so long for the foreign movies to come here. We are going to see "Pirates Of The Caribbean" tonight. It is supposed to be very entertaining.. bet you saw it Glenda..if so, did you like it?
Karen That was very smart of you to ask for your kitchen to be painted. I would like to take down my wallpaper (the very last of it in my home) and PAINT. The lady who lost 100 lbs must be estatic. That was nice of you to go out of your way to present it to her.
Marnie I hope you are pleasantly surprised when you get on the scale. Looks like you were well prepared with the treats you took along.

One more thing, does the board look different to anyone else? I am having trouble reading the print. The bold is smaller, but I can read it, the printing under it is hard to make out. Usually after my SIL uses my 'puter things seem different, but I can't blame it on him this time. Before I start fooling around with the settings I would like to hear if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.... I need input.

Trudy try going to 'view', in the toolbar on the very top of your screen, then 'text size' and it will have a pop-out box, just tick the size you want, I always have mine on 'medium'.
Hope that helps with your problem.

I have to tell you all that DH and I have talked about having his sister come to live with us off and on over the past year. We were not sure she would come. It is so cold up up here over the winter. Plus she is so scard of traveling. But we bought the air line ticket today and she is flying in Friday the 21st. Now I hope the weather cooperates. The snow did not show up today at least here. Haven't heard if it snowed farther north. It was really a pretty nice day.
