Sugar-free yogurt??

  • Hello All!!

I'm just starting Phase 2 and I can't find fat-free sugar-free yogurt! Has anyone been able to find it? I feel like I'm cheating on the diet already just because I can't find this sugar-free yogurt - help!!

    Thanks!
  • Where do you live? It's readily available in most grocery stores - even here in the Canadian wilderness.
  • Sorry, I'm not in Canada I live in Columbus, Ohio. Anyone seen it around here?
  • I'm in Oregon and I have not seen it either. bummer deal.
  • Well darn. I thought I would come in here and show off with a lot of links to sugar free yogurt products. Where are they all, lol.

I just checked the Dannon and Yoplait sites, but can't find any that don't included added sugar.

I just checked my plain nonfat yogurt and even it contains 17g sugar per cup, as a dairy product. So we will have to look for no sugar added. I then checked my Dannon Light and Fit nonfat vanilla yogurt. I remember seeing Aspartame in big letters on the label. Sounds promising, right? But then the ingredients also include fructose syrup. And of course it has natural milk sugars.

    Am I missing something?
  • Suzanne,

As you said, yogurt has natural occuring sugars and plain fat free yogurt shouldn't have any added sugars. If you don't see it listed in the ingredients than it's all naturally occuring. Being on SUGAR BUSTERS I use plain NF yogurt all the time. I make my own fruited yogurt by added some pureed fresh fruit and some sweetener. It also makes great yogurt cheese when drained. Just make sure you are using one that DOES NOT contain gelatin.
Lots of things you can do with drained yogurt - when drained it even loses some of it's tartness. With a hint of sweetener, it tastes a lot like cream cheese!!!

  • Thanks!! Makes sense I've had one of those little yogurt strainers for a few years, and have never used it. I'll have to play with it!

    Thanks for the info!
  • Thanks for the info Debbie! I feel better about my yogurt dilema
  • cream cheese
eep..is cream cheese a no- no too??
  • cream cheese is fine
  • Just watch the sugar/carbs

Plain is best , but the flavored ones are not that much higher in sugar or carbs

The whipped ones are deadly, lol
  • Yogurt with Splenda
Blue Bunny has yogurt sweetened with Splenda and it's great! Many wonderful flavors. You have to try it.
  • I buy plain yogurt and mix one of the many different flavors of SF DaVinci syrups. Very yummy!!!!

  • Please check the revised Phase I list and the additon to it in the Stickies above.
Potato starch is definitely not allowed.
