Weigh in at home 10/14 - 10/19

  • Wow, looks like we were all busy or gone yesterday. I hope you had good weekends. We did end up going on a mini-trip. We left Sunday afternoon and drove up through northwestern Illinois into northwestern Wisconsin. The fall colors were simply spectacular. We spent Monday at hiking at various parks and driving through various Mississippi river valleys. It was a great trip. Foodwise, I did really well. I still had all of my banked points available when we left. I used 16 on Sunday, but Monday I only went over 5 points, and the activity points I earned hiking covered those. So I'm feeling good about how I did. But, despite that and despite a good sneak peek Sunday morning, my sneak peek this morning shows me up a pound. It's probably water retention - I didn't get in enough water while we were gone and we did have Chinese food yesterday and my rings are tight. Still, I'll be a bit bummed if I see a gain on the scale tomorrow. Nothing to do for it, though, but to guzzle water like mad today.

    Have a great day.

    Carla
  • Carla - wow - you did fabulously this weekend - and it sounds like it was not only a beautiful one (the leaves are just starting to turn here too) but a really active one. I *know* that sneak peek is water retention - Chinese food yesterday - absolutely. I know you've been guzzling and will have a good weigh in tomorrow.

We had a great weekend. I didn't get any exercise in but I didn't want to overdo it 'cause I still have a bit of a cough (and all the smoke there didn't help!). I did OK eating though - no dessert, fish for both main courses. Of course, I didn't count the points on the drinks but I didn't do too badly. All that eating out sure did a number on my water retention though. I couldn't budge my rings yesterday so I've been trying to guzzle water myself. I've done OK so far - just a couple of FP's yesterday even with the Yankees losing. Since the Yankee game (yippeee!!!) was in the late afternoon today, we were watching as we were eating dinner so I should be able to control the snacking a bit better (although I'm watching the Cubbies game of course).

I did a Back Care Yoga tape this morning 'cause I did something funky to my back yesterday afternoon. I'm planning on doing the same thing tomorrow morning 'cause it did help some - of course, it doesn't earn much in the way of AP's. We have a wedding to go to on Sunday so I need as many FP's as I can manage to save.

Time to go prepare lunch for tomorrow and settle in to root for the Cubbies.

    Have a great one,
    Judy
  • Judy - OMG - the Cubbie's game last night. Did you see the 8th inning? Could you believe it? I knew something bad was going to happen - everyone was too cocky predicting the big win yesterday. Fate does not like that. And that poor misguided fan - I'm sure he probably didn't even want to leave his bed today. Thank goodness Kerry Wood is on the mound tonight and we're at home. Because momentum seems to be on the Marlins' side and we need all the help we can get. If the Marlins take it, there's going to be a lot of Yankee fans here in Chicago come the World Series. Glad to hear you had a good weekend all the way around. Keep guzzling that water.

As for me, the guzzling didn't help and I was up 1.2 pounds today. I was a bit bummed, but I know it wasn't my "fault". Still, it's disappointing especially since I left flex points on the table. But it is mostly water, I'm sure, and it will be off, and hopefully then some, next week. At any rate, this is not going to put me in a downward spiral, that's for sure. I'm still in for the long haul. Some challenges coming up this week. Tomorrow I'm meeting a friend for lunch and of course there's the game tonight. Maybe tonight will be a good night to take up knitting again....

    Have a great day.

    Carla
  • Carla - sorry about the gain but it is definitely water. I'm glad it will not send you into a downward spiral. Yes, I saw the 8th inning last night - it was a heartbreaker. Right now I am watching the Yankees WALK IN the go ahead run for Boston in the 7th inning. I came down here to the basement because I am ready to SCREAM - much too much cockiness on the part of the Yankee announcers. Aaarrrgggghhhhhhhh!!!!!! Well, at I don't have the patience for knitting right now so I will stay on the computer while I watch - otherwise I may dive into some kind of food that I would regret later!

My back is still bothering me - I have an appt for the chiro on Friday (no late appts today and I have class tomorrow evening). I'm planning on doing that Back Care Yoga again tomorrow morning. It doesn't earn me more than 1 AP but I want to give my back a couple of more days before I try something more strenuous - plus there just might be more baseball tomorrow (aarrrgghhhhhh) and if there is (and I hope there is NOT), I will be watching the game after class.

Have a good one - Go Yanks, Go Cubs!
    Judy
  • Hi all.

Karen - I hope all is well with you.

Judy - Well, I know you'll be watching baseball tonight, as much as you didn't want to. I hope it goes better for Yankee fans than it did for Cub's fans. And so we bring out our favorite mantra: "Wait until next year". Only this time it's believable that next year they have a chance. That poor fan that interfered with the foul ball - local print and broadcast media have given out his name, where he works, his address. It's ridiculous - he was not the only one reaching for that ball. The Cub's even had to put out a statement today stating that ball games are not lost by the actions of one fan in the stands. Craziness. I hope your back is feeling better soon. Good idea to take it easy. As for diving into food - my best advice is not to keep leftover spaghetti and meatballs in your refrigerator the night of a decisive game. It makes a really nice consolation prize.

I did end up using some flex points yesterday as I had a fairly high point lunch. I basically just noshed for dinner and then snacked on that darn spaghetti. But I still have more than plenty flex points left. Today for lunch we went to Panera bread and I just had the low fat chicken noodle soup, so I'm fine for today. And no baseball to stress about tonight, so I should be fine tonight too.

Have a great evening. Go Yankees.

    Carla
  • Hi all...

Carla - good attitude about you wee little gain this week! Sorry about your Cubs...that poor guy from the other night is never going to hear the end of it. Better luck next year. I'm immersing myself into hockey season...how Canadian.

Judy - sorry to hear that your back is bugging you still. Hope the yoga helps. Good luck to your Yankees!

I'm in a massive PMS induced funk this week. Haven't had a bout like this for years. Poor Mike bore the full brunt of Hurricane Karen last evening. I'm also going through a bit of insomnia which happens to me once in a while, so I'm sleep deprived on top of being excruciatingly crabby. I came home from work early this afternoon, and intend to put on my pj's and sulk. Or sleep. I have an evening class tonight that I really don't want to go to. I don't want to do anything (except eat everything in sight).

Hopefully this will pass before I inflict myself on too many others.

    talk soon...
  • Carla - I'm so sorry about the Cubs - I agree with you, they really do have a chance next year! Well, as I type this we are down 3-0. The Yankees had better get out of their hitting slump soon or else it's "wait until next year" for us too! I feel terrible for that poor fan. I can't believe they gave out his name and address! They even mentioned his name on the Today show and compared him to poor Bill Buckner who's life was basically ruined by that play against the Mets - terrible!!! I'm glad the Cubs put out that statement. That was one out in the game - that's it. Sometimes I wonder about people! Sorry about the leftover spaghetti and meatballs. I'm down here in the basement online because right now I feel like diving into anything high point! I've already munched on popcorn.....Well, I'll do my best. I still have 17 FP's and hope that on Saturday and Sunday I'll be able to earn some AP's. Thanks, my back is a bit better today and I am going to the chiropracter tomrrow so I should be well on my way.

Karen - you poor dear - I can sympathize. Tony has born the brunt of Hurricaine Judy too many times for my liking. The insomnia definitely sounds hormonal too. How about a nice glass of wine before bed - maybe that will help you sleep a little better. Sometimes the best thing you can do is to put on your PJ's and sulk! Here are some extra special {{{{{{{{PMS HUGS}}}}}}}} for you. I hope you are enjoying hockey season - how is your team doing?

Other than extreme agita right now from the boys in pinstripes, I'm doing OK. I did another yoga tape - one that includes "remedies" for amongst others back pain and it helped a bit. The field trip today was lots of fun and it was a gorgeous fall day (we went to a nature center where we saw deer and the kids learned a lot about different kinds of trees). I was tired from staying up for baseball last night but made it through class. At least this week we have just a reading and not a writing assignment. I'm still going to try to get ahead so I have some work done that would normally be due in November - I fell asleep thinking about Thanksgiving!! I won't be able to take any time off before T-Day this year and I have yet to speak with my cousins about who's making what. That's on my plan for tomorrow after work. Yeah, I'm a bit anal thinking about it already but this year it looks like 29 people at this point (gulp).

Have a great one - Go Yankees!
    Judy
  • Hi all.

Karen - You poor dear. Been there, done that. Sometimes I feel like I'm having an out of body experience - I wonder who that crazy woman screaming at everyone is and then I realize it's me. And I can't stop. I hope you were able to get in your PJs and have a good sulk. Feel better soon.

Judy - Congrats! What a game! I was at a meeting and didn't get home until the 8th inning and started watching the Sox fall apart just like we did. Apparently 8th innings are very bad for lovable losers. And yes, I heard you jumping up and down and screaming all the way here in Illinois. The sportscasters here all tell us that we must root for the Marlins because they're the National League team, they're likable, blah, blah, blah. I say, no way. Their coach, McKeon - is that it?, really p*ssed me off after they won. During the post game interview a reporter said something like "I'm sure you understand how sad the Cubs are feeling right now" and his reply was "It's just another series that they lost." Really. How difficult would it have been for him to say "They played hard and they wanted it just as much as we did. I'm sure they're feeling really low right now, but they'll have another chance next year." I mean really, would it kill him to be a little gracious in victory? So - GO YANKEES! As for that poor fan, one of the T.V. stations here showed his house, I'm told, and you can see his address on the screen. Idiots.

I had a good day yesterday. I used a few more flex points, but I'm still in great shape - 19 left, I think - for the weekend. Since we're not going out this weekend, as far as I know, I should be ok. My sneek peak this morning was good - back to what I was seeing earlier last week, so I'm happy about that. Now I just have to curb these snack attacks I've been dealing with in the evenings.

Have a great day and a terrific weekend.

    Carla
