Nutrition Breakdown for the Day?

  • I've been using www.fitday.com to keep track of what I'm eating to see if I'm meeting my nutritional goals (it's helpful to me -- it's like what I used to use for journaling on WW online, but this is free and a bit more powerful since I can put in specific goals and get reports to see how I'm doing).

Now that I've started SBD, I'm not sure how to modify the goals. Is there a goal estimate for fat, protein and calories for the day? Or even a ratio of fat to protein to carbs? (Is the carb goal 40 grams?)

    Thanks so much,
    Em
  • Em, do you mean you don't know how you change your goals in FitDay or you don't know what you should change your goals to?

There are no specific breakdowns of how much protein, carbs, or fats you should be getting that I am aware of. I do know some of the chicks use FitDay so maybe they have an idea of what it should look like? The plan is all about NOT counting or measuring so I guess that's why Dr. Agatson doesn't get that specific.

    Good luck!
  • Hi Frannymae,

No -- I know how to work with FitDay -- I just wasn't sure if there were any goals at all for SBD (for either carbs, fats, proteins, or whatever). I didn't realize Agatson was SO non-specific about any goals (for nutrition, I would think there would be some sort of ideal generalized goals?). Oh well.

    Thanks,
    Em
  • Em - I also use Fitday. I tend to watch my vitamins and minerals more than I do carbs/protein/fat. I do like the fat breakdown, though (the saturated/polysaturated/monosaturated breakdown). It bums me out that you can't monitor sugars under your carbs (like you can monitor fiber). My graphs tend to be all over the place in terms of fat/carb/protein.
  • Good idea (vitamin and mineral monitoring). Have you suggested the sugar monitoring to FitDay?

  • No, but I think I will. Thanks for the suggestion.
