Phase I - can you eat the Frozen Broccoli that has the 3 cheese sauce in it?

  • Hi everyone...I'm not a big veggie eater except for salads & do love the frozen broccoli w/cheese sauce, but not sure if it is legal during phase I. Here is the label:

    Serving size = 3/4 cup frozen or 1/2 cup prepared

    Calories = 50
    Total Fat - 2 g
    Sat Fat = 1
    chol = 5mg
    sodium = 340mg
    Total Carb = 5g
    Dietary Fiber = 2g
    Sugars = 2
    Protein = 3

    I was thinking that if we are allowed to eat broccoli and we're allowed to have cheeses.....then this should be ok. I can eat salads every day & night if I have too, but it would nice to have something a little different. I also eat cabbage, so that will help as well. Anyway....if I can't have it now, I'll save it for phase 2.

    Any advice you have would be helpful!!!

    P.S....Is store bought chicken salad allowed in phase 1??

  • Hi! I'm not positive about the broccoli and cheese sauce, to be honest. I think that if it means you stay on phase 1 and don't get sick of salads then you should eat it. It may not be totally 'legal", but you need to make the plan your own if you are going to stick with it. Make sense?

    As for the chicken salad, I wouldn't use storebought unless you know for sure what is in it. It might be fine, but it might have transfats or sugars that are "hidden". You could see if you can find a label and check it out. Good luck!
  • Since Phase I is only two weeks, I'd keep it simple. The broccoli with cheese sauce may be tasty but so is broccoli steamed and jazzed up with some Cant Believe It's Not Butter and some low fat parmesan. Aside from the nutritional count on the package, lots of prepared foods have other stuff added as preservatives. I am a reall pain in the a$$ in my campaign against Frankenfoods.

    And who the heck knows what's in store-bought chicken salad? I bet it's not all breast meat though.

  • Thanks for your replies.....I think I just needed to hear someone else say it!!! I really want to be right on target with these two weeks & don't want to cheat if at all possible....so I'll just save the broccoli w/cheese sauce for phase II or III...
