Not-so-newbie. Does that make me an "oldbie?"

  • Hi everyone! After about 11 years, I am back. Looking to connect with some fellow chicks to support my weight loss journey - and hopefully some good recipes.

A little about me: Mom of two 20 somethings. Preschool Music /Spanish teacher. Great hubby (who can eat anything and not gain an ounce.) Avid scrapbooker and ferocious pickleball player.

Finally have some time for myself and I want to find a way to lose weight. It's been so frustrating. I've lived the keto/low carb lifestyle and lost about 20# and then stalled. Hubby lost 40# and has maintained it because he has an in-house chef (moi). For whatever reason, I can't seem to budge the scale. I exercise, lift weights, intermittent fast, eat right, don't eat candy/sugar/fast food/etc. I think stress is a huge issue. Between COVID, working two jobs, moving every three years, my kids, menopause, sick/dying parents out of state, etc., I'm fried. I had my cortisol levels tested and they are very high. I just quit one of my jobs to make more time to take care of ME. I'm finally able to put myself first. Long overdue...probably like a lot of others here.

Since keto hasn't seemed to do the trick, I'm going to switch to a Sirtfood eating program with intermittent fasting. If anyone has any great sirtfood websites or recipes, I'd love if you can share.

Wishing everyone all the best in their weight-loss journey!
    Gabby
  • Welcome back, ukemama (Gabby), LOL at "oldbie"

Best wishes finding the right new path.

. We're trying Keto to start....not sure how long I can maintain that but want to give it a shot. .[/QUOTE
welcome back, I am dismayed by your comment as you say 'TRY' and add "not sure how long I can maintain" Please chose something that you can start with better expectations. If Keto is too far fetched for long term, consider low carb, low calorie instead. This is to be a lifestyle forever, not a 'diet' for as long as you can stand it.
Pick your number of daily carbs and calories, plan your menu, make a shopping list, get what you need, take time to plan meals. You can do this,
  • Hi Ann...I should have worded that sentence different. I do want to do Keto for a while but eventually would like to switch over to a lower carb/calorie plan. Also, I accidentally posted that to Gabby's intro (sorry)...meant to start my own. As you can see it's been a decade since I've been in this forum, having to relearn what I'm doing on here lol. I hope I successfully removed it from Gabby's and started my own. Thanks for your input!
