low-carb diet

  • i has anyone on the low carb diet find it hard to work out because lack of energy ? everytime i try to work out i cant cause i have been really strict on eating carbs ... so has anyone else had this expirence. ?
  • Have you been taking a multi-vitamin? Also, did you just start low-carbing? There can be a real dip in energy as your body switches from burning sugar to burning fat.

I aim for 20-40 g of carb a day and work out for an hour in the mornings (M-Th) with no energy problems. Motivation, well that's another story
  • Most people notice a marked energy surge as their body goes into ketosis after a few days on low carb. It doesn't happen for everybody though. I think your age, weight and medications can make a difference because it has definitely taken me longer to get into that "groove" this time around. When I was much younger, I was amazed at the newfound energy I enjoyed after just a few days on Atkins.
  • I found when working out extensively like 1 hour of hard weight lifting that there was a definate lack of energy. try making sure you take more supps, take your mag and cal supps as well as your potassium too. but more importantly make sure that you take n enough protien to replace your muscles and take in enough cals to feed your body. I found that i did better with a hogh end of carbs like 30 - 50, but make them helath carbs!!! slow burning ones like what is suggested with the low glycemic foods, the ones that release the carbs slowly!!
  • for my first 2-3 weeks, I was extremely tired on Low Carb. But then the energy level kicks in and there's no stopping me now!! You didnt mention how long you have been lc'ing. If it isnt long, then give it a bit more time for your body to adjust to burning fat for fuel rather than the food you ate. (this is what is making you tired) Once your body makes the switch, your good to go!

What Sue said too....if your doing alot of weight training your going to need a few more clean carbs, and a good vitamin.
