Weight loss journey book recs?

  • Apologies if this is not in the right section, but I am looking for any book recommendations on weight loss journeys rather than how-to guides or diet plans. I want stories from people who have lost a lot and/ or kept it off.

    Thanks!
  • Half-Assed a Weight Loss Memoir

    Walks with Petey

Never Give Up (by Richard Simmons- it may be out of print by now)
  • Great question! I hope you get a lot of responses

I second Pipsicle on Half-Assed: A Weight Loss Memoir and add the following:
The Amazing Adventures of Dietgirl by Shauna Reid
Hungry Heart: Adventures of Life, Love, and Writing by Jennifer Weiner
Good In Bed by Jennifer Weiner (I know you're looking for non-fiction but Weiner's GIB is a lot of fun and written from real events in her life. I've re-read it several times and it doesn't get old--at least for me. )

  • Great info, thanks!
  • Have you found something interesting? If I were in your shoes, I’d definitely reach out to abebooks and see if they have any recommendations for weight loss books. They have such a great variety of titles, from well-known bestsellers to hidden gems, so you might come across something that really speaks to your journey. Plus, their prices are usually pretty reasonable, and they offer a wide range of formats—whether you’re into physical books, audiobooks, or e-books. I’d say it’s worth browsing through their collection to see what fits your needs.
  • "The Elephant in the Room" by Tommy Tomlinson
    "Hungry" by Roxane Gay
"This Is Big" by Marisa Meltzer
"The Weight of Silence" by Shelley Waggener
  • One that really stuck with me was It Was Me All Along by Andie Mitchell, raw, honest, and relatable. It helped me reflect on my own patterns. I also decided to get Mounjaro online after reading about others using it in their journeys, and seeing real people succeed made it feel more possible. It’s those real-life ups and downs that keep me inspired.
