Paul McKenna - I can make you thin

  • Hi all, I am a new member. Apologies if there is a more recent discussion on this but I was unable to find anything after 2012.

I have been doing this plan for almost two months now (with exercise) and it is working. I have not been weighing myself but I can see the difference in my clothes and body shape.

In the past I have followed the program on and off and could not stick to it. The reason for this was that I still had the 'lose 10 pounds in two weeks' mentality and did not have the patience for slow weight loss. I think I may have lost a couple of pounds per month. In the past this would have discouraged me but I can see the changes and have the patience to continue with this. I know I will lose the weight slower but won't gain it back like other diets.

I started off just following the four rules without exercise. In the past I would finish eating within 3 mins normally. Now I take longer to eat approx 15 minutes. This does not come easy for me and sometimes if I'm stressed I do slip up and find myself eating another bite straight after without putting my food down. But it's okay to slip up sometimes and I just get back on the horse.

My favourite breakfast is coffee and toast with cheese. In the past I used to feel so guilty as everyone around me ate porridge or cereal (which I never liked). I am happy that I no longer feel guilt.
Paul McKenna suggests leaving a little bit on the plate which I have completely failed at however I am eating less overall. Before I used to eat breakfast and secretly my eyes would be searching for something else as I would finish eating in 3 mins. Due to eating slower, I feel satisfied and no longer want to eat extra. The other day Pizza was ordered and I was really proud of myself as I had a lot less than I normally would. I felt very relaxed and just didn't want to eat as much.

I would highly recommend the program but it is not a quick fix. This will not work if you are looking to lose fast weight for a holiday or event. It does however work and I prefer it to other diet plans as it removes the guilt around food.
  • I use to have a couple of his CDs. One for insomnia and one for weight loss. I liked them both but was more focused on my insomnia issue and used that one more. I misplaced them before I could transfer them to an updated format. He has an app but it seems to be all encompassing and I'm not sure if the content is the same as the CDs. I just want to work on one issue at a time.
  • It is best to focus on one issue at a time. I have used the CD once or twice since I first had the book years ago. I just focus on the four rules without the CD or tapping. I don't need them at the moment but some people might prefer to follow the rules with the additional hypnosis and tapping techniques.
