Jump into JUNE and JULY Exercise Thread

  • In honor of what Heather started and Sweet Cakes continued:

Welcome to the June/July exercise thread! We're making exercise a habit, giving ourselves some accountability, and getting healthier in the process!

In this thread, we track the number of MINUTES we exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Most of us set goals for ourselves. If you are a goal-setter, early in the month set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes, maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away. However, you can also just jump right in without a goal, and you can join us anytime in the month!

We invite you to join us!

To keep track, just add your minutes to the existing group’s minutes. If you’re new, look at what other people are doing – it’s pretty easy to figure out! To help everyone keep things straight, please note the OLD minutes and the number of NEW minutes you are adding, such as
    Example: Group total ~ 500 + 50 = 550 minutes.

  • I took today (Sunday) off but I'll be back in the gym tomorrow morning doing cardio and legs and back. I usually work out for about an hour...30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of strength training. My time of the month has been wreaking havoc on my moods so I'm going to summon the motivation to keep it up!

    Sweetcakes...hope to see you soon.

I hope this support group just needs a little life support.
  • I haven’t been feeling well and I missed my spin class this morning. Maybe I’ll go back to the gym later this afternoon.
  • I did a 60 minute spin class this morning! It’s such a great cardio workout and the instructor incorporates some arm work as well with light weights.
  • I was super excited to be under 250 today...it's been a long time since I was able to say that. I'm trying to keep focused on short-term goals because I get overwhelmed really easily.

I've also really been thinking that I need to make a conscious effort to be more positive about my weight journey and in general. I've worked hard the last few months and I've accomplished a good deal. I can keep this up and get to where I want to go.
  • I fell off of my exercise kick for a bit but I'm back on it now.
On Monday I took a kettlebell class that kicked my butt! I'm still sore from that class.

I took it easy on Tuesday with a stretching class that started to work out all of the kinks and left me wanting to have a nap.

Wednesday it was spin class followed by another kettlebell class. This kettlebell class wasn't as intense as the class on Monday and we did a lot of ab work which I hate! I don't like ab work. I'm good with my flabby stomach. I don't like ab work.

Today was another spin class and I think I'll go to tonight's stretching class...it will be a great way to end the day and wind down for bed.
  • The temperatures are going to be completely out of control this weekend so I'm going to go for a bike ride today before things get too crazy. I'm up a pound from my TOM...ugh.
  • Big mistake going for a bike ride yesterday. It was already crazy hot in the morning. I didn't notice until I got back home but I was a bit dizzy. Probably best to keep my workouts in the air conditioned gym.

My weight has been fluctuating while it's my TOM but it was back down to 247.9 this morning. I'll take it. Things are definitely slow moving this time around but that's ok. I'm older and that's just the way it is. It's coming off and that's a good thing.
