Has anyone been successful losing weight while taking Geodon (Ziprasidone), or medicines like it?
I've been on a high dose of Geodon for 12 years or so for my severe treatment resistant OCD.
I must take this type of medicine, because it is the ONLY kind that helps relieve my OCD misery.
I have also been on Risperdal, Seroquel, and Zyprexa, (which are similar to Geodon), in the past to treat my OCD.
I've been on this type of medication since 2001.
I'm aware that these types of meds can contribute to weight gain, but my life was truly miserable and intolerable before I started taking them.
A simple SSRI (anti-depressent) medication alone doesn't relieve my symptoms, and needs to be augmented with something like Geodon.
Counseling and therapy has not really helped much either. The medication is the only thing that helps me.
But now I weigh over 400 pounds, and somehow I need to lose this weight.
Has anyone had any success losing weight while on this type of medication? And if so, how did you do it?
