I chose the typical New Year start date because I know that through this month it would be impossible for me to begin. I have done Atkins before (forgot what year...too many to remember)with huge success. Had lost 30 pounds. But I never went on to OWL or further. Just jumped ship. Needless to say, I have a LOT more weight to lose. I'm a carb and sugar addict. Tried various other "diets" and also tried redoing Atkins. Found it hard to get back on the wagon! Due to my health I know I need to do this. I plan on rereading the book and coming to this site often for accountability. My oldest dd is going to be joining me on this journey so I HAVE to stay true to it for her health also (lead by example, right?). Onward!!!
Welcome back, Bren! Everyone starts to think of a new weight loss/fitness plan around this time of the year. I suggest that you don't wait until Jan 1 to begin. The reason for that is, you might have an additional 10 lbs to lose by that time. I think you should start now, planning to give yourself some leeway on special days over the holidays. You might not be able to lose much, but it's more likely that you will at least maintain.
Either way, I wish you and your DD much success!
That sounds great! With your dd leaning on you, it will keep you motivated to make the right choices. One suggestion- try to et as clean as possible and stay away from all the low carb candies and desserts at first. For some people, they can stall weight loss. So if you eat clean for a month, and try one thing, see how your weight loss goes that week.
I am going through that now. Maybe I am just having a slow week? Or maybe its because I have been having low carb nut bars every day? IDK, I'll have it figured out in a few days.
Good luck!
