did I gain 6 pounds in one week? HOW?

  • I'm usually very precise in my calorie counting and never go over maintenance but this week I've not been as careful with tracking and gave myself more freedom to eat junk food. I haven't been binging or anything close to it! but I've also had about 2 shots of vodka every nigh this week, which is not the norm for me at all (I usually don't drink alcohol much).

my weight has gone up 6 pounds this week. Its also not TOM so I cant blame hormons. I'm still hoping most of it is water weight though cause it cant be 6 pounds of fat! so how much of actual weight do you think I gained?

whats even the realistic amount of actual weight you can gain in one week from over eating?
  • Maybe it's the amount of sodium you are consuming?

I've gained 5-6 pounds in a week, and then I realized I was unintentionally consuming 5000 milligrams of sodium in a day. Once I started actually counting the sodium along with the calories, I dropped the weight overnight.
  • I agree with harrypotterrocks, your sodium intake is a huge factor with water retention. Alcohol is known to cause problems there too. And you'd have to be eating an insane amount of calories (3500 extra calories for 1 extra pound) to gain that much weight. Also, it may not be time of the month for you, but I always retain when I ovulate as well. All the hormones mess with me and there's only two weeks in the month I can get a non depressing weigh in. (Deep sigh... )
