How much more should I lose?

  • Sorry, tried uploading a picture. It wouldn't work.

    How do I upload one?

I don't have a URL address for it. I just took the picture on my phone.
  • The only way I know to upload a picture to this forum is to save it on your computer. I am able to upload pictures from my phone to my computer using the USB port. Once you have the picture on your computer, click on Go Advanced below the post. Then click on the little paper clip, which brings up another window, and click on Browse. Find the picture you want, then click on upload. That should transfer the picture to your post, unless the picture is too big, in which case you will get the message, Upload Failed and you will need to resize the picture.

There might be other people with information on how to upload it directly from your phone, if that's possible.
  • I don't have to see a picture to tell you that this is a very personal thing. If you are nearing a healthy BMI then it's completely up to you where your weight should be. If you're fit and exercising regularly then BMI isn't as accurate when accounting for muscle mass and body fat percentages. I'd recommend seeing a personal trainer who can calculate that.
If you feel good and like where you're at, that's a good enough reason to end the weight loss and look into maintenance. All other opinions are from people not living in your body, and keep in mind that the media's view of what is ideal is not reality and is unattainable.

  • Rather than focusing on the numbers, i.e. how many more pounds you need to lose or how many more inches you need to shave off, I believe you should focus on how you feel about yourself. I'm assuming you've already lost some weight or shed some inches, so now is the time to evaluate how you feel about it. You never judge yourself on other people's standards or opinion of what's fit or fine. You measure yourself based on how you feel. Are you happy with the way you are right now? Then just maintain and continue what you've been doing, because you're on the right track. If you aren't happy, then ask yourself what will make you happy about how you look. Once that's clear to you, you then move on and make plans based on that.

While trying to lose weight, don't lose sight on the fact that at the end of the day, it's really how you feel about yourself that matters.

  • I only need to lose 15 more pounds, but I still feel like I look weird. My butt is still really big, and my lower stomach juts out from my upper stomach. I wear a medium in shirts and a 8-10-12 in pants. When I take a picture I look ok, but In the mirror I look more like 180. And without clothes on I look like I'm 200. I have a huge amount of stomach fat left.
People tell me I look like I'm 140 though. I really don't know.

I think my doctor would flip out if i got below 145. I think she might send me to an eating disorder hospital. Even though all she talks about is her being worried about me gaining the weight back even though I've kept it off for almost 2 years. It's pretty frustrating. Every time I see her I'm 5-15 pounds less and she goes on a rant about me gaining the weight back. She's causing unhealthy perspectives about food. I would switch doctors. But I don't have much of a choice. She even told me 1,100 calories was enough. She's crazy.
