Do you count Macros or just calories?

  • If I am off by a few grams of my macros it drives me crazy. I've become very anal about my numbers. I'm eating high protein, moderate carbs, and low fat. (40/35/25) My calorie limit is 1250.

For the people who have been losing weight by counting calories, do you pay attention to your macros everyday? Or do you just focus on eating at your calorie limit?

    Please help! Thanks
  • I count neither calories nor macros, but I do quick estimations in my head, for example I might think to myself "I didn't eat much protein today, so I should eat something with protein."

I think the exact percentages for protein, carbs, and fat aren't really important (for example anything between 20% and 35% fat should be ok), so I don't see the need to count it so precisely. I think it's more important to make sure you're eating the right foods, because not all fats (or carbs or protein) are equally healthy.
  • I agree with your answer mjf, and would like to add that I think it's important to eat a variety of foods to be sure you're getting all the necessary nutrients.
