Stop the binge? What's worked for you

  • So I'm wondering if any others have been down that rocky road of binge eating or simply overrating and felt as though they could not stop but eventually did... I was wondering If you guys could give me advice on how to overcome it and what's worked for you? I've found that going for walks help but I'm not really sure on anything else..
  • What works for me is really planning meals in advance...TASTY healthy meals. And change my mindset from 'I'm eliminating bad things' to 'I'm ADDING good things'.

Also, I'm not actually eliminating things. Another trick for me as been to have treats in the house but not the ones that I tend to binge on. There are some cookies I'm likely to binge on, but there are some yummy 'health' bars that give the sweet fix but that I am not likely to binge on.

But it has been a lot of trial and error, so it has taken a while to find the things that work.

To stop binging - i teach my clients to stop restricting.

The more you restrict the bigger the binge.

Instead, I teach a flexibile dieting apporach.

The weight comes off week after week WITHOUT having to restrict your favorite foods.

    Start with small goals.

Like, eat protein with every meal.
Drink a pint of water with every meal.
Exercise for 30 minutes a day.
Get to be by 10pm each nigth.

Start with these small process goals because they will built momentum and get you back onto winning ways, while also move you close to your outcome goal of losing weight.

this is what i teach my clients.

    hope this helps.

  • For me, the only thing that has really helped it switching my diet to low carb/high fat (keto)and eating less processed foods. My cravings have gone down significantly and I always feel satisfied. I stay away from the sugar free/fat free (obviously I want the fat) foods and my diet mostly consists of meats, vegetables, real butter, full fat cheese/cream etc. this works for me. Now I know it's near impossible to eat 100% like this all the time so when I do go off plan (a night out with friends, weddings, you know...life, etc.) I take it meal by meal instead of day by day type thinking. So if I wanna go out for pizza with friends one night that's fine but I jump right back to my keto way of eating the next morning and this works for me. It really helps to recognize when your mind starts thinking about bingeing and you really need to take a moment to figure out what emotion is causing you to feel that and try to deal with what's really going on inside bc the answer is not in the kitchen.
