Water Question!?

  • So we all know one of the keys to weight loss success is water! Some people try to drink at least a gallon a day and I've read SO many stories on how people who increase their water intake have so many health benefits...

Well, I am trying to increase my intake. As of around 4:30 PM, I have consumed around 48 oz of water. The problem/ question is, every time I consume the suggested amount of water, I get horrible acid re-flux. I have spoken to my doctor about this and they have no idea other than starting me on anti acid medicines...which I am not really keen on being dependent on.

Does anyone else have this problem while dieting? Is it just me? Should I seek a second medical opinion?

    Thanks everyone!
  • Do you chew gum, by chance? Or take in massive gulps of water? Those can irritate your stomach with the added oxygen and can sometimes result in acid reflux. I would suggest drinking it at room temperature and in small sips, and see if that helps you out. It could also be that your water has too much alkaline in it. Buy a pack of bottled water and try that instead to see if it helps you out or has any difference.

If that's the case, try getting a stronger filter for your water from the tap and it should help.
  • I do not chew gum...I have a water filtration system that I recently changed the filter too... But I do drink REALLY cold water with large sips... I will try the room temperature! Thank you so much for the tip!
  • Np! Sometimes temperature can irritate the tummy. I hope it works for you!
