Orlistat Onwards and Upwards

  • Anyone else here on Orlistat? I'm just starting out, got a long journey ahead of me but feeling determined I know I can do it. So fed up with being big and all the aches and pains that come with it. How do you get a ticker thing set up on your posts??
  • Welcome, just wanted to say hi! It's great to meet new people who are ready for a change as well.

I'm sorry, I don't know what Orlistat is, but I think the ticker thing isn't available for awhile - you have to be a member for about a month and have made a certain number of posts if I remember correctly (It's been a while) there is an "Impt Info for Newbies" link in the forum posts in the 300+ section I believe

anyway, welcome again - can't wait to learn more about you and your journey.
  • Hay, so we just called it Xencial here in the UK which I had to google to see if it was the same thing, and it was!!

I went on it maybe 8 years back? I had heard such great things about it, My doctor told me that it got rid of 30% of the fat that you ate (from what I can remember). A friends dad was also on it at the same time as me and he lost weight very fast. I was on it for 6 weeks, In those 6 weeks I probably lost about 12-15lbs which was great, but my health was not. The problem with me was, I did not eat a diet high in fat, which meant that my body was getting rid of fat that I needed. Within about 3 weeks I was pale, tired and losing concentration, By the 6 weeks mark my mum was begging me to come off of it. I was actually really ill! After coming off of them, I bounced back to normal.

My friends dad lost about 8 stone and looked great, (however now, after 8 years he has gained it all back).

It is very much about what you learn from it and how your diet is just now, you wont know until you start.

I would advise you though, Learn about healthy food! learn about measurements and calories (if you don't already). My friends dad learned absolutely nothing about nutrition on it, which is why he gained it all back. You can be very very smart with it, I hope you gain complete success from it.

I would love to hear about your progress!
