Ideal protein and stage 3 chronic fatigue syndrome? Anyone else with it?

  • Hi there everyone!
I don't even know where to begin.... Sigh. In 2014 I lost 84lbs doing ip using alternative products from Nashua and other products I found at target and Amazon. I went from a size 18 to a size 8 in less than 10 months. It was the best I felt physically and self-esteem wise in my adult life.
Fast forward to last year. I did two rounds of fertility treatments using donor embryos and was on hormones from January to July. During that period of time my fertility dr put me on thyroid meds because my tsh levels were too high. My health declined and my weight increased. Last fall I went to a dr to continue my prescription of thyroid meds and he added a additional med, and in short order increased it to two times a day. I started feeling fatigued and I was dealing with insomnia.
I'm on my third dr right now since last fall and I have been diagnosed with homozygous mthfr c667t, hypothyroidism (with no antibodies mind you), and stage 3 chronic fatigue. 😕 My dr also tested all my neurotransmitters and all are low besides my epinephrine because of the chronic fatigue and low methofolate from my mthfr.
I've been following a gluten free dairy free diet thanks to the paleo diet since last fall. I have chronic inflammation and can put on a couple of pounds overnight because of it.
I went from 145 to 205. ☹️ The scale doesn't go down and I'm not eating crap food. My integrative dr. Wants me to only eat about 50 carbs a day because of my blood sugar levels which is attributed to the chronic fatigue. Because of the low carbs I was considering doing ip to lower my blood sugar and quite honestly to lose some of this weight again.
Anyone out there with chronic fatigue and are doing good on the plan AND most importantly able to continue to heal from chronic fatigue? I will have to do a soy free and dairy free plan but have found the organic protein powder that appears to fit within the unrestricted requirements. I'd love input and thoughts if you would please!

    Thank you in advance
    DeAnne
  • Do you know your current TSH levels? Including Free T3 / T4? I don't function well and exhibit symptoms (dry skin, fatigue, heart palps) when my total TSH is much above 1.50

    Chronic fatigue...sorry, no personal experience.

If it was adrenal fatigue, I know they don't recommend taxing your system with a VLC-type diet (very low carb).

I did IP soy free, but I am sure I wasn't not dairy free, since I used Quest & other whey-based products.

Imho, it couldn't hurt to try IP - you will have to get over the keto-flu, on top of the chronic fatigue symptoms - but eliminating the carbs may help with the inflammation. I would be sure to be under my doctors care - full blood work up, etc...and keep them in the loop
  • Johnsdeere: here's a published site in Clinical Rheumatology with more info.
http://link.springer.com/article/10....2490-9#/page-1 If it doesn't come up with the full article and only an abstract, go to Google and type in this exact sentence: Fibromyalgia and chronic widespread pain in autoimmune thyroid disease - then hit the scholarly articles link at the top, and the full article should pop up for you.
I feel your pain/fatigue - I have FM and autoimmune thyroid issues and am GF. You may have to use vegan protein sources but it can be done IP style. I have 3 that I like to use: Vega, Prairie Naturals Organic Rice Protein, and Renew Life FitSMART - they are all GF, dairy free and soy free. Good luck - keep us filled in on your progress with IP. Things may be a bit slow due to your other health factors.
