Monday SBD Chat, July 11

  • Good Morning!

I crashed and burned early last night after my early morning commute from Glenwood and an extremely busy day at work. Of course, now I'm up. I had the coffeemaker set for 3 but just went down and pushed the button. I will still get back off my feet for a bit before work.

Did I mention I picked 3 gal. of raspberries and froze them nicely. I have to work through Wednesday but will head back over and repeat. I think I have both this week and then next for heavy picking.

Not much else in my world. Dog and cat are fine.

Tammy, was so glad to hear from you. One day at a time. I pray for you always.

    Enjoy your day everyone!
  • Good morning. My world is now all washed and you can hear the plants sighing in relief. We still need more rain to get out of drought conditions but it's a great improvement. We are going to have a few days of super hot but things should normalize by the weekend.

Despite the deluge, we were busy at the Mill all weekend! I did get some work done on the Fair schoolwork and am planning to go over to the Hall later the day to "ribbon" the winners. (Did you know that 1st place is a red ribbon here in Canada and blue in the USA?) The non-winners also get a ribbon just for participation - purple this year. I also have to get to the bank to deposit the weekend cash - the new treasurer still does not have signing authority until the bank calls us in for signature changes.

Been getting caught up with odds and sods by doing yellow stickies for quickie jobs like watering house plants, some ironing and ADL - activities of daily living. Today's jobs include meal planning since it's been grab, gobble and go lately and the scale is showing it. I have two weddings in the fall and want to be a size smaller before I shop for an outfit.

Debbie, such a busy bee! You certainly will have a good stash of raspberries for winter smoothies! I will get some from The Farm to freeze later this week. In the meantime, there are black-caps along my fencelines that will be coming on strong after the rain. (These are wild brambles that are small but packed with flavour!)

Time to crank up the day although the dogs have gone back to bed, They sure love that new round bed.

    Marvy Monday, EveryChick!
  • Good morning,

Heading into work today and it is official my first day in new position so I will have to train myself not to check up on how everything is going for the new manager. Still battling a head cold so we did nothing yesterday as well other than watch Gymnastic Olympic trials on tv.

Debbie sounds like you have a plan for the week, that is a lot of raspberries

Ruth glad you got rain, hopefully that helps the plants.

    Have a wonderful day everyone!
  • Good afternoon, chicks.

Looks quiet in here today. Everyone is off doing stuff.

Ruth, what a relief to get rain! DH was starting to wonder about the wells going dry locally.

Debbie, that's lots of berries! DH is going to have to watch and pick our blueberries for the next few days while I am gone.

Pearlrose, good luck on the new job. I also watched the gymnastics trials. Those girls are amazing.

    Happy Monday!
